that 3rd down pass to jennings is as good as it gets. he's been getting better. 70+ % in 4 straight games. he should stop running the ball period. his athleticism is in the pocket. he is actually good in the end zone but i don't think the coaching staff is doing it the right way in there.

Teddy's ability to pull down the ball and run for yards is partly what makes him effective. Teddy is not some immobile cac pocket passer, he can easily run for yard if the passing options aren't there. Nothing needs to change. :comeon:

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
You know who Teddy remind me of, a black Chad Pennington. Especially with that deep ball :scusthov:

Peyton has done perfectly fine without a deep ball:sas2:

But yeah- we've had this discussion before. The most important traits for a QB are the intangibles (right reads, taking care of the ball, smart in the pocket, etc.). Teddy is far more talented in this regard than all of the rookie QB's and several veteran QB's.

Having a cannon for a arm will not decide if you will be a top tier QB (probably not even in the top 5 necessary traits). Word to Cutler and Stafford.

I think what Carr has done has been impressive, especially considering the talent and coaching staff he has around him. I wasn't thrilled with the pick at the time because I knew we would suck again and figured we could just draft a QB this year (Jameis, Hundley, Mariota,etc.). I like the leadership and poise Carr has shown, and really just his general knowledge of how to play the QB position.
That being said, to my eyes, Teddy B looks like Minnesota may be set for a while. I don't follow the Vikings as close so I don't know his demeanor with teammates, coaches, even study habits BUT he's low key been looking like the real deal for a solid minute now. Some of that could be the difference in coaching since Minnesota has actual professional coaches, but I liked him more coming out of college and nothing so far has changed my mind.
**I know some of my fellow Raider brethren are going to go in on this post, but it is what it is. Not knocking Carr at all, he has earned a spot as our QB for at least a couple more years. Just observing that I think Teddy B is on a different level right now. Who knows, we get some real coaches in there, with the mechanics he has, the poise, the desire to play for his teammates, Carr could be top 3-5 in a few years. I REALLY hope he is. Doesn't change the fact Bridgewater is balling right now.

But many executives and experts around the league think Minnesota, which will see Carr live Sunday in Oakland, must be kicking itself.

“Carr is a big-time quarterback,” NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell said. “The Raiders are telling you what he is, because they are expanding their passing game on a weekly basis.

“Carr is a big-time arm talent. Bridgewater is an average arm talent. Now Teddy’s poised and understands where to go with the ball, but there are 31 teams who would take Carr and only one that would take Bridgewater.”

All 31 teams didn’t answer our calls, but eight executives did and agreed with Cosell. They didn’t want to be named, with one adding, “The Raiders have their winning quarterback for a long, long time.”

How Big Is Gap Between Sophomore QBs Derek Carr and Teddy Bridgewater? Chris Simms says there is no comparison. Calls Teddy "Check Down Charlie" and a 6th round talent.

:wow: It was all good just a year ago.
