mayweather always fights in May and in September what are you talking about?

Not always. When you look at the opponents he faced that didn't need sufficient build up (ie only 5 months of promotion), there was always a plotline or a selling point; Pacquiao, Maidana, Canelo. De La Hoya, Mosley. These are the only opponents that he's faced in consecutive September-May dates. Those fights sell themselves. Maidana less so, but it's up against a Latin American - who as we know can be fiercely nationalistic when it comes to sports (particularly against a black athlete). The Maidana bout saw his lowest returns since the Hatton fight. Similarly, there is less of a plotline against Berto, and much less of a nationalistic element, save a minority of Haitian fans. Perhaps a younger, undefeated Berto would have made this a salable fight, but not the Berto that has lost three times (twice to people Mayweather already beat). Mayweather has feigned 'retirement' before, and I think he's using the "it's his last bout" angle as the fight's selling point. The more you break some of these fights down, the clearer it is the level of marketing that goes into them.

ill stream hoping floyd drops cuz its a fluke fight.

i know it would be cheating, but what if floyd got a buddy to drop his dough on him to lose, floyd takes a dive in the 7th-8th, then they split what they won off berto. fukk a legacy at this point :manny:

:scheme: it obviously wont happen but that would hilarious.

Mayweather isn't going to retire at 49 wins and he'll probably do one more rematch with Paqcaio then hang it up, but Berto is a fighter who may be past his prime.

I blame ESPN/Fox Sports for the lack of real Boxing coverage over the years like they give UFC.

ESPN barely covers MMA/UFC. And FOX has a big deal with the UFC, so it's not surprising that they provide considerable coverage.

What about that scenario is hilarious? Have you heard of floyd prior to 2015? Ever seen his massive ego?

Lets be real, for the last nearly 8 years it's only been talk about Mayweather-Pacquiao because everyone thought Manny would be the one to beat Floyd.

Pretty much most casuals' eyes Manny was the only one who had any chance of beating him. Now that that didn't happen, those same casuals think Mayweather will retire undefeated so, why even bother watching.

After that fight, both of their numbers will never be the same. This is due to two reasons: A) The numbers it brought in are nearly impossible to beat. B) The reason stated above.

Wait, Money Man not blessing US this sparring match on CBS for Free:patrice::ehh::russell:

This is just info via chatty patty:dame: but the money Floyd wanted upfront from CBS for the free fight CBS wasn't going to pay so they quietly went the PPV route and claimed they never announced that the fight was free anyway.
