ESPN Ranks Lebron as the best #1 pick ever. Do you agree?

LeBron has shined a brighter light on the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the City of Cleveland, than ANY NBA player selected #1 overall has done.

On the court, he already has given them 4 NBA Finals appearances in a Cavaliers jersey, but the sheer amount of exposure and $$$ he brings into the city puts him over the moon when it comes to comparing him to other #1 picks.

Cleveland is known around the world, and mainly because of LeBron James:wow:

No other #1 pick has, basically, single handedly revived a City on it's last legs as LeBron has done.

We could've been Detroit:hhh:

The fukk does that have to do with the game? If Cleveland was struggling financially that's on the city. He left for Miami so are you deducting those years?

Duncan got more rings and there's nothing else to discuss.

LeBron has done more for the Cavaliers franchise, Northeast Ohio, Nike, sports culture, and the NBA than any other number one overall pick could have done.

I don't think some of y'all realize, LeBron will be an ICON by the time he retires. He has carried the league as the most polarizing player since being drafted, ratings will drop when he's gone just like they did when MJ retired. His accomplishments and talent should have him as a top 5 player of All-Time at the very least at this moment, and he has generated millions of dollars in tourism to the Cleveland-area off his very presence. Nike gave this guy $90M out the gate and reupped for a BILLION.

His expectations and hype as a number one overall pick and his impact is unparalleled, also LeBron is a better player than Tim Duncan and y'all know it. :comeon:

I don't understand how anyone can dismiss the sheer value of competitive superiority Tim Duncan brought as a number 1 pick
And it's not like he played with lottery picks his whole career
His team was built after him and a bunch of late first and 2nd round picks and guys of similar character
He is the identity of the spurs...even their current best player is of the same mold as Duncan

Magic is comparable as the showtime laker run dwarfs everything after until shaq and Kobe came

Cap won a title with the bucks but he is known as a laker which wasn't the team that drafted him

And of course bron went to Miami where he learned to be a champ and came back to win but four of his best years were spent in miami while Cleveland floundered and he didn't return until they had three all stars ready to play with

Which is why it's clear to me that LeBron is the answer:manny:

Who's the best #1 pick ever....it's Cleveland's selection of LeBron James:yeshrug:

The Cavs could've went the safe route
and picked Carmelo Anthony (who was coming off a dominant Freshman season of CBB) or Darko (who was getting serious hype back then). Instead, they went with the hometown kid and have experienced the most benefits of any team that has picked someone #1 imo.

Have you even been Downtown lately breh?:banderas:

They still building and adding more & more thanks to King James running up the numbers in the city:wow:

The safe route was Lebron and only Lebron. He was literally being recruited by the NBA since he was 11. Dude could've dropped out of HS a year or two earlier and still been #1. Nobody in the draft was more of a sure thing then Bron. Let them have picked Melo, Bosh or Wade and Danny Ferry (Was he the GM then) would've needed security

Im saying. San Antonio was Laredo status until Tim started putting in work:scust:
The Spurs had George Gervin, Artis Gilmore, and David Robinson, they at least had conference Finals appearances and 60 win seasons before Timmy. In fact they got Timmy because D-Rob missed the season with injury, they was "contenders" before him.

Cleveland was known for this...and no team from that city had won in 52 years until LeBron brought a title to the city last year.

D-Rob was the same way, he was the graduate, well-mannered Navy kid, with humility before Duncan and the face of the franchise, he groomed Timmy coming out of Wake Forest too. :manny:

Let's not overthink this it's clearly LeBron or Kareem

I think Duncan and magic got strong cases can't go wrong with any of these players...you know what's crazy tho I looked at that list and was like why isn't bill russell there had no idea he was picked second after Sihugo Green that's probably the worst draft decision ever even worst than Bowie over mj

Explain to me how Magic Johnson's selection revived life into the city of Los Angeles?:ohhh:

Explain how Duncan did the same for San Antonio?:ohhh:

I'm 100 percent sure that if you were broke before lebron came then you were broke after he was drafted let's stop acting like lebron being drafted turned the city around its still a shythole

Yet David had losing seasons as the leader and got his lunch ate by someone he had to guard aka Hakeem
Duncan arguably never got outplayed by another power forward in the playoffs or finals

They only had a losing record when D-Rob missed the season

To be fair Hakeem was KILLING everyone at his peak on some :scust:, he ran through D-Rob, Shaq, and Ewing and destroyed them all :picard:

I can't say he wouldn't do the same to Duncan :manny:

Also, STAT used to kill Duncan, had multiple 40 point games during them Spurs and Suns rivalry days
