I see someone's a little bit miffed about the rankings without even looking into the stat he's using.

It's an advanced statistic, in this case WORST statistic you can use in any sport, which is how good you are above the average player that doesn't exist

ARP or ORP = above or over replacement production.

For Houston to rank #1, the writer's pretty much saying there is no guard more indispensable than James Harden. That may or may not be true, but for this to be a collective list, this is what he's saying.

I say you don't. Let's say Steph and Harden are equal, no fukking way is Jeremy Lin better than Klay Thompson.

What does Klay do better than Lin besides shoot the three. Whatever discrepancy the two have in talent isn't that big to be cussing

Regardless of stat they're using this shyt is an atrocious ranking that is a microcosm for how stats can be manipulative.

No shyt Sherlock. That's why I'm saying read the article first.

Is the ranking THAT far from the truth, kinda, depends. I didn't need a stat that told me the Spurs have a ridiculous impressive backcourt. It leaves a lot of room for interpretation since the key figure in the equation is "the average NBA player."

the stat is grading on a curve. As you can see, the ranking is based on the WARP number, not his opinion

Golden State's backcourt is definitely better than Minny's and Dallas if you ask me and arguably better than a few more in front of them. I think they should be at least in the top five with Curry Thompson and especially if you factor in Iggy playing minutes at the two spot.

Klay Thompson is a good defender fam, so is Toney Douglas. When we need 1 stop Steph won't be in the game.

If you read the article, he doesn't factor Iggy at all since he feels he's primarily a SF.

The only thing in question should be your assessment of his formula, not the results and subsequent ranking of it.

your GM employs a team full of geeks to use stats like this. Pretty much every squad has an advanced stats department. The ones that don't, draft only using the eye test, one key game, a workout, and their smile (yes, that's a subliminal)
