My point is simply that every QB who has played after 1978 has had that same advantage Montana, brady,Brees, aikman,Marino etc because that is the season the rule was brought in. A Rule changes argument would only be relevant to QB's who played before and after 1978, like comparing Otto Graham and Tom Brady

As for 5,000 yards lets put that into context. Stafford is a good not great QB who throws it more then anyone in history(over 700 attempts compared to Marino's 500) on a team with zero running game and a HOF WR in his prime. It's not very hard to see why he would have 5,000 yards with those circumstances. Then we have 2 HOF's in Brees(who also throws it a TON) and Tom Brady.

When we talk about "era" I think it has more to do with 4 GOAT level QB's playing at once and tons of Good QB's then rule changes. We simply have a better understanding of passing offense and more good QB's right now then ever before.

Did you watch football prior to 04? You tryna tell me the game is being officiated the same way the last 30 years? Nothing has changed? The letter of the rules as far as down field contact may not have changed since then but they are certainly being enforced much more stringently now. Like I said there is a clear distinction between early last decade and afterwards as far as what defenses can get away with and shyt was steadily shifting prior to that.

You literally cannot touch the QB now and you can't really hit guys or jam them anymore. These are new developments. It's a different game now and there is really no debate. :laff: at the lengths nikkas will go to to try to make a flimsy point. nikkas breaking records that stood for 30 years every year and all of the advantages that offenses are afforded now having nothing to do with it it's all about how good these guys are and their understanding of the game. :stopitslime: :snoop:

No Steve Young 98 season? Dude had 42 total TDs 101 QB Rating in 15 games. :salute:

Could yall imagine how good he'd be if he played now?

With the way the league is now a season like one Stafford had in 2011 or Daunte in 2004 wont even be mentioned as an all time great season. Stafford's numbers are inflated with all the passing attempts but Daunte's season in 2004 was and still is one of the best I've ever seen from a QB.

The great years all these QBs are having after Polian enforced the "no-contact after 5 yards" rule should be in a different category. Brady, Manning, Brees, and ROdgers greatly benefited from that rule change and since then, even more rules have been implemented to favor the passing game.

Marino did it when DBs were still grabbing and tugging well past 5 yards. You cats might not remember this, but the way it was called back then was that DBs could mug the shyt out of receivers until the ball left the QBs hands. Imagine that shyt.

He also became the first QB to rush for over 1,000 yards that season.
He threw for under 2500 yards at a 53% clip with a TD/INT ratio of 20-13 with his team going 7-9(not putting blame on him for this but still)

That is simply not worthy of consideration for top ten all time QB season, thats ridiculous.

RGIII arguably had a better season as a rookie than that
