Stop reading when Marino wasn't number 1
And back then nikkas was actually allowed to play defense![]()
My point is simply that every QB who has played after 1978 has had that same advantage Montana, brady,Brees, aikman,Marino etc because that is the season the rule was brought in. A Rule changes argument would only be relevant to QB's who played before and after 1978, like comparing Otto Graham and Tom Brady
As for 5,000 yards lets put that into context. Stafford is a good not great QB who throws it more then anyone in history(over 700 attempts compared to Marino's 500) on a team with zero running game and a HOF WR in his prime. It's not very hard to see why he would have 5,000 yards with those circumstances. Then we have 2 HOF's in Brees(who also throws it a TON) and Tom Brady.
When we talk about "era" I think it has more to do with 4 GOAT level QB's playing at once and tons of Good QB's then rule changes. We simply have a better understanding of passing offense and more good QB's right now then ever before.
at the lengths nikkas will go to to try to make a flimsy point. nikkas breaking records that stood for 30 years every year and all of the advantages that offenses are afforded now having nothing to do with it it's all about how good these guys are and their understanding of the game.

2006 vick completed 53% of his passes1990 Randall Cunningham

1990 Warren Moon
2006 Mike Vick
1992 Steve Young
2004 Daunte Culpepper

you cant be serious right now
He threw for under 2500 yards at a 53% clip with a TD/INT ratio of 20-13 with his team going 7-9(not putting blame on him for this but still)He also became the first QB to rush for over 1,000 yards that season.
