Appreciate your coach and the dome
True, true
I'm not gassed at a 4-0, either
We ain't doin' nothing, this year, if we can't compete outside (CHI, NE, SEA, etc.)
It's gon' be a cold winterAppreciate your coach and the dome
It's gon' be a cold winterBrady was the best
50 TD's(+42 TDs to interceptions highest EVER) GOAT offense and an undefeated season.
The other impressive thing was that it was a completely revamped WR core. He never played with those guys before and it looked like they were together for 10 years
remember brady did his in 16 games, Manning did his in 15 games and he was kneeling against the ravens, and gawdgers did his in 15 games as flynn played the last game

You cats bringing up Brady, Brees, Manning, etc...
Marino was the first cat to pass for over 5k yards in a season.. when he did that with 48 TDs, no passer had ever sniffed anything like that in the league.. 2 years later he almost did it again. He had the most yards and most TDs held down for 24 years
Context, my brothers. Context is what you guys aren't talking about.. Dan Marino is what statisticians call an outlier.

Exactly. All of the top 4 seasons occured within the last decade. You think that's just a coincidence? Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees are all great but they don't put up those numbers in the 80's. Marino did. What more really needs to be said.
And it's not a coincidence that that not many years after the Real rule changes in 1978 that QB's like
Marino
Montana
Fouts
Anderson
Took advantage and started putting up big numbers. If you REALLY wanted to use that argument you would use QB's who played their prime years before 78' like
Graham
Unitas
Bradshaw
Namath
Ya Title
They didnt have the benefit of ANY rule changes helping the Passing game. And on These QB's not putting up those numbers in the 80's... Where's your proof? Marino can throw almost 50 TD's in 84' butManning can't?

. I do have a basis for my belief though. Just look at Manning and Brady's numbers pre rule change and post rule change. There is a clear distinction. The average year for Brady or Manning now would've been a career year 10 years ago. You really gonna try to act like the game hasn't become more and more about passing offense over the years?
You really gonna act like having Matt fukking Stafford throw for damn 10,000 yds in 2 seasons doesn't have just a little something to do with the era in which he's playing?
One of those guys might have challenged Marino but I don't see 4 or 5 guys throwing for 40 TD and/or 5000 yds 30 years ago breh. You are more than welcome to breakdown the seasons of guys from throughout history and explain why they are the best. My main point of contention was that none of those recent seasons belonged above Marino's by any fair measure.
Marino's numbers were still head and shoulders above his competition. Fouts and Montana and Anderson weren't throwing for 5000 and damn near 50 TDs, they weren't even close (Fouts was close with yds). Marino destroyed the TD record and set a yardage mark that took damn near 30 years and damn near outlawing defense for someone to break. The fact that it took 20+ years for both records to fall and cats still only barely passed him says something. The fact that so many people started surpassing these marks in such a short time says something as well. Before 1999 only one QB had ever thrown for 40 TDs...Marino twice. Since then it's happened 7 times by 6 different guys with 5 occurences happening in 2011 and 2012 alone. Before 2008, Marino was the only guy who had passed for 5000 yds. Since then it's been surpassed 5 times by 3 different guys in like 5 years time. And this has nothing to do with era?
There is no way of proving a hypothetical. I do have a basis for my belief though. Just look at Manning and Brady's numbers pre rule change and post rule change. There is a clear distinction.
