The best thing was the funk flex interview afterwards. Nas was straight dropping quotables after quotables

- You have to come at me scientifically
- Ether burns
- Flex : What did you think when he speak to Angie ? Nas : - Pitiful. I felt his pain
- Self praise is no praise
- Jay made two record, one was so garbage, it played one night and thats it
- He call himself European Jay and thats very correct
- I lob you Jungle
- He said we would not be friends anymore. We weren't friends to begin with
- When he say oh oh , I thought he was Nelly, I knew it was over
- I knew the obsession was there, but the public didn't know
- Hot 97 owes me cash

Nas was always the low key type of guy. No one knew dude was hilarious like that :heh:

I agree it was his worst moment during the whole battle but Ether is just overrated by many.

My guy that's like saying some plain 100 million dollar painting/artwork is overrated.

The shyt ain't overrated if it's worth 100 mil.
I don't give a damn how plain it looks

Hopefully that didn't go over ya head

LMAO nah it didn't go over my head, it just doesn't apply to this situation. Song was ok. But it had a several questionable lines in it that to this day haven't been addressed. But I get it. Jay was top dog at the time and it's a more interesting story if we say Nas bodied him. We also have to ignore the fact that Nas turned down a face to face challenge from Jay which would have been NUTS, and the way hip hop was traditionally done. Can you imagine if it had been reversed? If Nas challenged Jay to a face to face battle and Jay was like "nah, I don't want that"?? OMG that would have been the end of Jay. But I understand to maintain the rhetoric that Nas bodied Jay, you gotta ignore that little fact. Nas is an all time HOF, Mt. Rushmore great and the author of possibly the greatest hip hop album of all time, but Ether was just overrated to me. It's only a $100 million painting to YOU.

It was a battle AND a boxing match. Jay was so hurt he wanted to fight this niqqa. :mjlol:
And turning down Jay's Challenge is just simple tactics. Nas isn't gonna help him get the upper hand. Nas felt he was winning and was fine with the current status quo.

Oh is that what we calling it now? I think it's more about Nas knowing Jay is a true battle MC and thats not really his lane. Answer this question honestly...In the time period after Takeover dropped and before Ether dropped, Jay was unquestionably winning the battle. So lets say during that period Nas would have challenged Jay to the same thing.

Does Jay turn him down for "simple tactics" reasons since he was winning or does he accept that offer? Let me see how far you gonna take the bullsh!t...

In my experience introverts are often funny as fukk. They just gotta warm up a bit.

I don't know what Jay would do and neither do you. But I do know what Nas actually did and it worked. He got the results he wanted and it didn't depend on Jay Z to accept an invitation, that's the difference. :yeshrug:

So takeover don't have questionable lines too? It's a part of being battle savy to exagerate the truth and bend things to your advantage. When Jay say prodigy was a ballerina and then put an image of the young prodigy dancing to create a haymaker reaction when it's just a young kid dressed as Michael Jackson what do you call that?
I never understood the argument about ether is a better diss and takeover is a better song. To me that's nonsense. You can't separate the diss element to the rest of the song. If the diss was effective that's all that matter, regardless of the beat. If the beat was a real factor people would not have gravitated around the song like that.

This battle was like a karate fighter vs a sambo fighter. The karaté fighter looks more appealing and elegant but the sambo fighter is just here to be efficient and win

Jay-Z ain't turning down a battle with his opp in that situation. His ego wouldn't have let him AND it would have been bad business.

The last line told me that it did go over ya head. You didn't get it.
So never mind guy. At this point anyway it's like still debating the US presidential election.
