8 GDDR5 is superior to 8GB DDR3 +32eSram in every way, plus the GPU in the PS4 is 50% more powerful, that hasn't changed as well as the CPU being more powerful.

Wrong there is a reason why computers don't use Gddr5 as system ram because it has poor latency compared to DDR3/4 system ram. Its a trade off. And the cpu is basically the same between the two stop talking BS.

:snoop: that's all about GPU's

The ps4 uses gddr5 for its CPU as well, which is where the latency concerns come from.

From your last couple posts it's pretty evident that you don't know what your talking about. Why not just wait untill some game are released then we'll see what the truth is:manny:

I see @MeachTheMonster has already corrected you. Gpu and Cpu have different needs memory wise. A console still has a OS whether linux based (PS4) or Window 8 kernel/Xbox OS (X1). As I said before its a trade off.

GDDR5: Lower capacity per chip, higher bandwidth, higher per-clock latency (partially offset by higher clock). Used in all high-end GPUs on PC as well as in PS4.

As I said higher latency, :childplease: Just stop comprehension is not your strong suit.

:pachaha: this thread. xbots are so lost even the corp heads are spinning out of control

News: Xbox One exec says Sony PS4 tech specs are "meaningless", games more important - Xbox 360 - The Official Magazine

Xbox product planning boss Albert Penello feels that hardware analysis is “meaningless” because it’s all about the games.

Speaking with OXM, Penello said there are very few gamers who will buy consoles for the specs alone, so there is no sense in comparing Xbox One and PS4.

“The problem is that Sony decided to go out and publish a bunch of numbers, which are in some ways meaningless,” he said. “Because this isn’t like 1990, when it was 16-bit versus 32-bit.

“As a matter of fact, they actually go out and they talk about how proud they are about their off-the-shelf parts. Our guys’ll say, we touched every single component in the box and everything there is tweaked for optimum performance. For me, I’d rather not even have the conversation, because it’s not going to matter.

“The box is going to be awesome. The games are going to be awesome. I heard this exact same argument last generation and it’s a pointless argument, because people are debating things which they don’t know about. They’re not [head silicon engineer] Nick Baker or [corporate vice president of IEB hardware Todd Holmdahl], and I’m not [lead PS4 architect] Mark Cerny, so why are we having this discussion?”

Penello feels consumers will pick a console for the games it offers, rather than for its capabilities on paper. "Here's what you care about," he said. "You bought a system to play great games and have great experiences. I feel like our games and experiences are going to be every bit as good, if not better, technically - on top of all the magic we're going to add with the instant switching, and the power of the cloud.

also to add injury to insult to prove xbots don't even read

Bandwidth is at a premium in the Xbox One owing to the slower DDR3 memory employed in the console, which does not compare favourably to the 8GB unified pool of GDDR5 in the PlayStation 4. The 32MB of "embedded static RAM" within the Xbox One processor aims to make up the difference, and was previously thought to sustain a peak theoretical throughput of 102GB/s - useful, but still some way behind the 176GB/s found in PlayStation 4's RAM set-up. Now that close-to-final silicon is available, Microsoft has revised its own figures upwards significantly, telling developers that 192GB/s is now theoretically possible.

delete, I'm done.

Don't delete it now. Lets see what this dude is talking about.

Increasing the framerate. Going e.g. from 30 to 60 FPS will not require any additional memory capacity, but significantly higher bandwidth for the GPU and potentially also lower latency.
Increasing level size. This will mostly impact capacity, since you need to keep a larger set of assets in memory. However, since the set of assets used in each individual frame is not likely to increase much in size, bandwidth requirements are mostly unaffected (and so is latency).

I think these are the two most important things. Right?

For higher frame rates you need both higher bandwidth and lower latency. Ps4 has higher bandwidth Xbox has lower latency. I'm sure system architecture has been set up to adress the deficiencies in both memory setups, so it's safe to assume that both can do high frame rates.

For larger worlds. The most important thing is the amount of available ram. In this instance the ps4 would have a clear advantage since it does have more usable ram. The concern comes in when you anylize the ps4 GPU's ability to use all of that ram in an efficient way. We won't really know the answer to this until some games start coming out. As of now, similar off the shelf GPUs can't efficiently manage over 4 gb ram.

Also current games are not using anywhere near the 5 GB of ram that the Xbox one has. Maybe somewhere far down the line the extra 2gb of ram will come in handy for ps4. In my opinion it will probably come down to developer optimizations. It may take them to jump through a couple technical hoops to get the most out of the Xbox ram in order to match performace with the ps4.

As for the ps4 gpu being 40% more powerful. Yes that is a true statement if you look at the on paper specs. But that doesn't mean your gonna get 40% better performing/looking games. For one, system architecture and dev tools are very important when it comes to performace on these closed systems.

And for 2 in real life performance terms the difference just isn't that much. These systems are 10 times as powerful as last gen systems, yet they still can't guarantee 1080p 60fps performace. So the idea that the ps4 is just gonna severely outperform the Xbox because the gpu is .4 times as powerful, is just not based in reality.

In conclusion. Toward the end of the generation if devs want to push the ps4 to the brink of its capabilities, they may have to make some minor cut backs for the Xbox version. But for the most part performace will be equal. At the beginning of the generation Xbox might even have the edge due to microsofts history of quality dev tools and support.

so another imaginary advantage of the "superior" ps4 has been taken away from the fanboys :mjpls:

You do realize that Microsoft still hasn't put out full detailed specs for the
XB1 like Sony has? That speaks volumes. They'll probably do like Nintendo has done with the Wii U & never release them.
