Yeah, I know a few.
Them's the type of cats that write 'X' where they got to sign if they ain't even learned how to write their own names atleast to keep up with the farce.
However a few of the older dudes that I know normally pull that 'Man..I ain't got my glasses youngin', READ DAT FA ME.." shyt and you gotta :childplease: when a situation comes up and they gotta read somethin' but don't want to let on they can't read and shyt. They get by, trust me.

Used to.work for an early pediatric literacy organization. Ran into a few adults who couldn't read to their kids. It was sad.

My dad didn't learn how to read until he was an adult. As a kid reading was super important to him because he was in his 20s when he first read a book. Now he's the most well read person I've ever met. I'm pretty sure I got my love for reading and history from him.

I worked with a nikka that couldn't read. I was cool with that but this nikka was a cocky hood nikka :what: so we worked at a hotel setting up for events using tables, chairs and stages. We had to draw the shyt for him and he would knock it out. We used to beef bad and one day they told me I had to draw a setup for him.... :sas2: I drew that mf sideways in all kinds of wrong order when he got done I got rid of the paper I drew for him :lolbron::troll:

Then boss came in and cussed him all the way out. He didn't say shyt cause he knew it didn't matter and they wasn't trynna hear it. I helped him fix it tho. He knew from that day on I could ruin him. We ended there. But the whole time we finished that job we was :mjcry:

When I met wifey she was teaching at an adult literacy center, its amazing watching them read works from their own hands and still struggle.

3 years ago we had a summer intern, HS Grad on his way to play football at some school and we had to let cat go once folks figured out he couldnt read

Sure, "popcorn reading" time was always comedy watching wannabe thugs stuttering and sounding out words :mjlol:
It was entertaining on the outside like when you're at home thinking about it. but during the actual reading time it wasnt entertaining cause then you had to wait longer and spend more time cause of them dumb nikkas. I would try to read more/all just so we didnt have to wait while a slow reader went

Never met a full adult that all the way couldn't read. In sixth grade, however, I was assigned a group to do a project with. We took turns reading a passage, and when it came time for this ginger to read, he pulled me to the side (I was the closest to a friend he had in that group) and was like "Yo... Can you go for me? I can't read."

Naturally, I was like "nikka stop being fukking lazy. You didn't make it this far into school not being able to read." and made him do it. He sat there and stuttered the initial sounds of words, so I got annoyed and took over. And of course, as a sixth grader, I clowned him.

Next year, they put him in the slow class because he was dyslexic.

I lost my faith in the education system that year.
