I’ve told this story before but the first time I did (I’m Mexican) they made dinner and I was confused as fukk why half the food was cold and everything was bland. This mom could prolly tell I looked disgusted so she actually no lie asks me if I want beans instead. Took me a long time to realize how racist that shyt was
And yes. The house was freezing I couldn’t wait to get back back home and eat real food and not be cold , even though we lived in a small apartment and they had a big ass house

I co-sign everyone who said they interrogate you, and act surprised that you are not feral. That’s really how they view us.
It took a long time before I realized that them saying I was articulate wasn’t a compliment. I wouldn’t even be saying anything that profound. Just me putting together a full sentence was fascinating to them.
They also act shocked when you don’t put up with the racist “jokes”.
I had quite a few white friends growing up, and used to date white women. Their parents considered me one of the “good ones.”. I’ve been friends with White people of all socioeconomic statuses and it’s the same across the board.
I had one friend who had a Haitian nanny, and the nanny’s husband did work around their property. They didn’t have a car, so one time, his mom asked my mom to pick them up on the way to their house, because they lived close to us.
If anyone knows Jersey, their house was in Colts Neck. His mom was one of those white women that went from rich husband to rich husband, and moved to the city. The Colts Neck house was their weekend house because his father had primary custody, and he only saw her on the weekend, yet still needed the nanny to come help.

Come to think of it. I haven't. Not counting college and that was at a crazy party. Where everyone passed out. It was basically a frat house.
