I think what you're doing is confusing Marxism-Leninism, which is essentially Lenin's subversion of Marxist doctrine, with Social Democrat policies.

In regards to Obama's ties with Communism in his youth, well that doesn't really prove much tbh. Obama embraced Neoliberalism whole heartedly in his presidency and pushed a wave of tax cuts. Doesn't sound like Communism to me.

Also Bernie is really not that much of a Leftist in comparison with European politicans. I wonder what Corbyn would be considered over there in the States. .
The idea of universal healthcare and free university tuition is really not that same as seizing the means of production and ending private ownership.
