It’s “telegraphed” by the fact that there’s only one button to press. Subsequent games that added more mechanics also added indicators on which button to press

So now you are making the argument that a “telegraphed” attack equals QTE.

Yes
So Mario RPG is a movie game? I haven't made an argument, why are you so desperate to give me talking points? I'm literally asking questions :mjlol:

Bloodborne, Devil May Cry and Bayonetta all also have parrying mechanics as well.
My response to gizmo was saying these games had more complex design than hack and slash. I know that you can parry in those games and it’s a good tool and not the core design of their combat.
In Bloodborne, you can rely dodging and the rally system, weapons, with gun parries as one option. Devil May Cry’s Royal Guard is one of many styles. The game still is about the combo system and style. Witch Time in bayonetta is a reward for perfect dodging, not traditional parrying until bayonetta 3.

I ain't played BB in like 10 years. Refresh me on what this "Rally" system is. And I was pretty sure Bayo had parrying on a couple of its weapons as far back as the first game. Once again, but a decade plus since playing, but I'm pretty sure it was there.

If you take damage from your opponent if you react fast enough and attack you recover health. Rewards you for being aggressive. similar to to the chip damage in tekken

Oh ok, yeah that I definitely remembered and liked that mechanic for that game. I don't remember it ever being referred to as a rally system or ever heard that term before really. I thought you meant like being able to summon mobs or some shyt.

I don't mind, whats annoying is games adding platforming sections but do minimal to make platforming to actually work....expedition 33 :comeon:
I see those as moments for them to show off the environment and what not they worked on. In most games those seem to be moments where you get to see more shyt. I only get annoyed if the platforming is ass and not automated and also required

Hell no. And anyone telling you wiser is fooling themselves. At worst, it could be implemented poorly, I suppose.

I mean that's what i thought like when did parrying in fighting games and swordfighting games became a bad thing...:pachaha: it's called technique and strategy :russ:

It's slowly becoming one of those things that you can tell is a corporate buzzword that suits are throwing around in meetings, and tryna shoehorn it into anything, including games where it doesnt belong.

It's cool in most action games. It just gets stupid when games like Doom and Resident Evil start incorporating it.

:pachaha: i think dodging is sorely needed in the new resident evil games
