Jaylen is aight, let's leave it at that. Dude doesn't deserve idol worship because he's a decent basketball player with a brain.

Huge JayB fan, I remember hoping he somehow would fall to Denver . I alsoremember when I saw that report about execs thinking he was "too smart for his own good" and being heated. Something similar derailed my hoops goals. I cant put my finger on why I feel this way but I think Bostons only gonna reach its fullest potential when its Tatum and JB as 1A and 1B. No disrespect to Kyrie but they give me a vibe that theyre gonna be that 1-2 punch when theyre 25 and older

TYRONE GA!
This kid went from what some considered a reach at Number 3, a player who some scouts said was 'too smart' for basketball, too raw, a project, just an athlete, to being a 21 year old second year player playing big minutes on a winning team.

Half way through the season, hes averaging 14/5/2 on 46% from the field, 38% from 3.

While dunking all over fools.

On top of all that.....

When asked if he followed Kaepernicks plight:

Created, on his own, a "Welcome to the NBA" night for rookies out in Vegas during summer league that the NBAPA wants to steal now.

When asked if he still kept in touch with his old neighborhood:

When asked again about racism in America:

- This references a speech given by author David Foster Wallace to a graduating class at Kenyon College. The speech argues that there is a default setting for humans in the society they’re born into, and that makes it difficult for them fully understand its downsides.

When asked if sports is a escape form:

When asked about the 'shut up and dribble' comment aimed at Lebron:

During All Star Weekend, instead of hitting thots, he organized a 'Tech Hustle' for NBA players to mingle with Venture Capitalist:

Clap for this dude. I know far too few people as smart as this kid, and I'm an old man.

We were recruiting him HARD at GT. :mjcrygt:

Same thing I was wondering
What the fukk does too smart for Basketball mean

It can mean a lot of things but in my experience and from what Ive seen its mostly just code for shut up and do what youre told. When I was a junior I got the axe from my squad because I couldnt justify running my coaches trash ass offense. Our offense was feeding our 7foot Meyers Leonard-esq center incthe post and in theory him getting doubled or whatever was supposed to open up driving lanes and open 3pt shots. Vanilla pudding could not do shyt in the post he was tall for no reason so instead abunch of us opted to just screen and roll and see what it could get us and our coach was furious. So there was this one day after practice I decided maybe he just doesnt see what we see so I tried to break it down for him as calmly and cooly as possible that our team aint got the people or talent to run the offense that he wants and that the best idea would be to tweak thinga.

Breh hit me with:hhh::usure::skip: all in one and had me do laps while he shouted all of his (underwhelming) accomplishments. I did my shyt but tryna talk to him man to man put a tatget on my back with this dude. He would never miss an opportunity to try and make me look stupid. Straw that broke the camels back was he asked me how far the moon was from the sun, not even the Earth but the fukking sun, and when I didnt know he tried to flex on me. So i lost my shyt and told him he aint shyt for coaching abunch of highschoolers to a losing record because hes too stupid to realize a post-centric offense cant work in highschool without someone with legit post moves.

Long story short I quit the team and tried to get into leagues/pick up for money but the vibe was never the same. Im a youngin so this was the same time Bron was in Miami so I became really aware to how athletes are treated and looked at in the world. Decided shyt wasn't for me and that I would make a difference with my brain not my body.

Not at all tryna imply I couldve went pro or Im on Jaylen Browns level but I was just a young dude with ideas and I thought I could make a difference. Coach was a younger black guy too so it aint even like he couldnt relate to me, he just thought he was above having his schemes challenged by a 16 year old. Hope this sheds some light:yeshrug:
