Bobby V is about to re-invent himself, again, and the βThe Breakfast Clubβ got the first scoop on it all.
Itβs been a while since the Atlanta singer released a new project, about 3 years to be exact, and now heβs back with βHollywood Hearts.β From his conversation with Charlemagne, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy, heβs releasing both an album and the previously teased corresponding full length movie with the same title. Both the album and movie are inspired by each other and will be released Saturday, October 8.
Bobby V brought the director of the Hollywood Hearts film, Tangie B. Moore, with him to the interview to talk about the premiere of the movie on BET this weekend, and what inspired this two-part project. The collaboration between the two of them is loosely based off of his life experiences and shows βlike a day in his life.β βEveryone wants to know about his personality behind the camera, so the film really captures the lifestyle of a quote on quote rockstar,β says Tangie.
All of the music in the film is featured on the βHollywood Heartsβ album and was created mostly during the filming of the movie. This is Bobbyβs βrendition of Purple Rain,β which is a hard act to follow but we canβt wait to see what heβs put together!

Looks like Kehlani is definitely in good spirits after sitting down with βThe Cruz Showβ on Power 106 in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
During her interview, the Tsunami Mami gave fans a few more clues about her upcoming debut album. Though we still donβt know what βSSSβ stands for, she said that sheβs finally approaching the finish line. According to Lani, sheβs now working on perfecting the tracklist and putting together the albumβs artwork.
If youβve been keeping up with the the Bayβs Princess on social media then you know she recently hit up Las Vegas for the first time. She had a great time with her friends and Bryson Tillerβs squad celebrating life. In the spirit of being young, free and 21 in Vegas, she said that βI thought I was going to kick Vegasβs ass, but Vegas kicked my ass.β
In talking about how she deals with heartbreak and translating her emotions to songs, Kehlani spoke about her process. βI think Iβm a big processor. Itβs why I have to take a lot of time to myself. Going through anything, I have to process and I have to teach myself to listen. I have to analyze what I could have done differently. And then I have to heal myself. I have to process all that. So usually it doesnβt immediately come out through my music, because I have to get over it before I digest what I went through.β

Following Alicia Keys, NPR Music caught up with celebrated soul singer Anthony Hamilton for the latest episode of their βNoteworthyβ mini documentary series.
Host Jason King, curator of NPR Musicβs R&B stream βIβll Take You There,β uncovers new insights behind the singer/songwriterβs creative direction, inspiration, and early development.
Anthony takes King to the house where he grew up; the barbershop where he cut hair and found stories for his songs; and the church where he sang his first gospel solo. Hamilton says his whole family played a role in the initial steps of his career. βGrandmother, granddaddy and aunts and uncles and everybody else [said], βBoy, you better go down there. You gonna do something. You need to join the choir because you need to serve the Lord,'β he says.
Before he got the record deal that would bring him to New York, and then to millions around the country with the release of his breakthrough album, Cominβ From Where Iβm From, Hamilton cut hair in a Charlotte barber shop, and credits the atmosphere there for helping to shape his voice as a songwriter. βChildren come in and older folks come in and women come in. And you have all this conversation,β he says. βItβs like the information station. The sound manages to have a bunch of people talking about the same subject, but everybody has their own point of view. And even though theyβre all talking at the same time, you can hear them all clearly. Then it all starts to make sense. You hear the things they desire, their dreams. It creates songs.β
