Exclusives are a GOOD thing and without it, gaming would be WORSE off.

Would you prefer a game not exist at all instead of it being exclusive?

  • Yes, I rather a game be exclusive and exist than to not exist at all.

  • No, I want games to be everywhere and to stifle creativity *hides Xbox logo on shirt*

  • :mjlol: Sony stans

I don't know why y'all gotta be so all or nothing, I didn't say no one can, and I didn't say it was for online clout. You interpreted it that way.

I simply said the way people buy and play games would be different if they couldn't get online and talk about it before and during the release.

The fact you and ya boy twisted that to something is crazy. You think these social media "influencers" and personalities are getting codes for games just because? :beli:
Y'all my ass. You're the ones jumping in here telling people the only reason people play games on release is FOMO.

Correct, so there's no need jumping in here talking about FOMO and wait for 2 years, etc. I get your point, but to say "The only reason you're playing that is because it's on PS is goofy.

Right like - they patched Torrent into the final boss fight (who is annoying to fight on foot) on Elden Ring two years after release - does that invalidate everyone's play through of one of the greatest games ever? Where are we drawing the line here?

but they were out on PC with the expectation that they should be superior to the console version. Why wait for the "superior" edition and then still have to wait because something was broken?

and? I still enjoyed the game on PS5, even with the blurry performance mode because I played it on quality mode at launch which was fine. Crashing on Returnal didn't happen to me to where I noticed it. I think the game crashed on me once or twice in my hours of playing. It also had the same issue on PC.

Okay? It comes with the territory. You can't have your cake and eat it too on consoles. Even on PC you can't, you just have the option to spend more which is being left out of the convo. I can play Claire Obscure at 4K/ 60+fps on my PC, but my GPU alone cost more than PS5 Pro. I know what to expect on a console.

This is video games we're talking about. Not every game or hardware is a rushed product that is better if you wait. Imagine if you waited to buy a Series X because "patience is rewarded", now that shyt is more than a PS5 Pro.

There was a benefit, I enjoyed it the hell? I don't care about FFXVI anymore to play it again. How is this even a conversation? You can say it's zero benefit to play any game at launch because you can wait and play something else. Why even play games? You can wait till 3 more years to get an even stronger build and play games at 8K, 240fps. Them SNES nikkas lost, I'm playing Super Mario in 4K.

Man I can't respond to all this lol

You're missing the point that console launches aren't perfect either. And all of these issues on all platforms are ironed out over time, which further reinforces why it's usually better to wait. And at least with PC you have room to do more or mod, whereas a console game might be stuck at its 30 and 60 FPS configurations forever - and then you're forced to buy a cash grab remaster for better performance.

There's probably only been like 10 must play games this generation where FOMO is justified - but again this is all relative to personal preference.

Exactly.

So what reason do you have to pay more money for a product you know will be cheaper and better in the future?
because I want it when I want it. You're bringing money into the mix as if people are complaining about $70 games. If I was someone constantly complaining, I'd just wait. People who complain about prices of games are the main ones that should wait for it to be cheaper.

because I want it when I want it.
This is “hype” “fomo” “passion” or whatever you want to call it.

You know the game will be better and cheaper later but you want it NOW.

That’s ok and that’s your choice. Some games get me too.

I don’t have a problem admitting it.

But if you take a step back and look at the industry, a lot of the wack stuff these companies get away with is only because they can drum up enough hype/fomo for people to accept it.

Like i said before once you step off the hype train your gaming life will get so much better :blessed:

Let's be honest, this "hype/fomo" narrative was recently drummed up by The Mad Titan as a way to down play Sony games. I don't see him saying that about any third party games, it's only hype/fomo when it comes to exclusive games on PS5.

1st off, it's nothing wrong with that. :manny:

Second, again why do you think gaming social media influencers and personalities are so well equipped by game devs and publisher:jbhmm:

3rd if you have any backlog especially if something you consider to look "heat" at the time then yes you FOMO into new stuff.

What you're saying isn't the same as what I'm saying.

I'm exaggerating by calling it beta testing and a glorified early access, but what other reason are you buying a lesser version of a game for a higher price just to play it 6 months to a year early if it isn't hype or FOMO?

Especially if you care about performance and fidelity (since we all like to shyt on the Series S).

Exactly, no one screamed FOMO when Clair Obscur or whatever that game is dropped, same with Oblivion. These talking points only come up with PS games.
Then it's "well that's not what I meant, I meant passionate."

Nope

A calculation PC gamers make all the time. There’s enough games to play, nothing wrong with waiting for the complete definitive version on PC :mjpls:
