Exclusives are a GOOD thing and without it, gaming would be WORSE off.

Would you prefer a game not exist at all instead of it being exclusive?

  • Yes, I rather a game be exclusive and exist than to not exist at all.

  • No, I want games to be everywhere and to stifle creativity *hides Xbox logo on shirt*

  • :mjlol: Sony stans

it's not FOMO for me to point out reality though. It's going to be the biggest game launch of all time. PC is the largest platform. There WILL be an overlap of PC gamers who didn't want to wait a year+ who are going to contribute to that. You keep trying to make this about me but I'm just stating a fact.

I don't doubt that some PC only gamers won't want to wait, and will purchase a console to play the game. but like I said, a lot of us went through this already with GTA 5 and RDR 2. and other games. and all platforms wait for games. and a lot of games, and genres, start on PC... :patrice: but anyway, the wait has been getting shorter

GTA 5 - 19 months
RDR 2 - 12 months

another delay and the GTA 6 might be day one on PC :lolbron:

Their stannary has been broken all the way down to “I get to play a few games before other platforms”

And that makes them uncomfortable so they lash out and attack.

When sony announces all games will be coming to PC day one these dudes gone lose it :mjlol:
Yeah it might be sooner than they think too

Sony put all their exclusives on PC this generation with PSN and trophy support.

They put PSVR2 on PC and said have fun with Steam.

You guys are preaching exclusivity when Sony themselves changed their tune on them.
They still have exclusives. Timed or not.

I really don't understand what you guys don't get about this. Exclusives drive console sales hence why Sony and Nintendo still have them.

You can hate consoles all you want, but those that are selling consoles need/will have exclusives.

Sony put all their exclusives on PC this generation with PSN and trophy support.
So games coming to PC a year+ later is them doing more for PC but it being first on PS5 isn’t doing anything for console owners?

Where is Demon’s Souls for PC?

Where is Gran Turismo 7?

Uncharted 4 doesn’t have the multiplayer component in the PC release, why? Why am I not getting more?

Where is Astro Bot? It may be very well announced soon for PC but we’re going on 8 months since launch, and they dropping new content for free later this month. Is that something that benefits someone on Steam?

Where are “all their exclusives” from the PS4 era. Where are the Infamous games? Sly Cooper? PS Classics, Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted Collection, Little Big Planet, Dreams? Kill Zone? Knack?

There’s a gang of games I have that I cannot play on PC. I don’t see it, why isn’t Ghosts of Yotei coming to Steam day 1 if they’re doing more for PC gamers?

They put PSVR2 on PC and said have fun with Steam.
Where is Horizon Call of the Mountain?

Where is Firewall Ultra?

Are Steam gamers getting PS+ games monthly? Does the PS+ perks apply there as well?

This is like saying Microsoft is doing more for Switch owners than Xbox because now some of their games are coming ignoring Xbox still has more perks overall.
You guys are preaching exclusivity when Sony themselves changed their tune on them.
So where are the day 1 PC games Like Ghosts of Yotei, Wolverine, Intergalactic etc.? Can I play Saros on PC day 1? Can I transfer my save from PS5 to PC on some of their games? Is this the part where we’re told we should wait for 1+ year to play it on PC because everyone magically has a RTX 4070 or capable machine? If something comes to PS5, it’s the same on everyone’s machine. If it comes to PC, I may have to troubleshoot it to fix it. As someone that has played on PC since the 2000s, there is no one going to tell me consoles aren’t less hassle. I’ve never had to troubleshoot or stop playing a game completely on consoles compared to PC. You know this, please let’s not lie because you want to spite Gizmo lol.

What do you mean where's Firewall Ultra? You just talking now.

You can probably count the recent State of Play shows without a PC related announcement on one hand. Its only a matter of time until all that stuff comes over.

And once they figure out a storefront it's over. Obviously there's a lot of politics with that right now.

This seems a bit tough to answer. I will say this getting backed by a publisher can expand the scope of a game and get more eyes on the product. Take Stellar Blade for example, the game was going to release . However, if they didn't get the bag from Sony we would have gotten a much different product. I don't think the original scope for Stellar Blade was going to have the high production we got

Also, unsure if we get the Ninja Gaiden games that released this year if Microsoft didn't approach Tecmo. The same goes for possibly Street Fighter 4 because people forget Capcom was hurting during those times and Capcom needed the money. They also approached Microsoft, but Sony were the ones willing to foot some of the bill

The negatives about exclusive is finding the wrong partners and rights being lost. Sunset Overdrive is an amazing game and my favourite Insomniac game, but being locked into Microsoft ecosystem hurt the game into becoming a franchise. EA attaching Titanfall to the xbox one most likely killed any hopes in the game becoming a franchise. IF the game was a multiplat from the jump, then I think it had a chance of being a mainstay franchise. Also, Square locking their games to playstation ecosystem ended up hurting them long-term because releasing games late on PC resulted in losing a ton of sale and growth for their franchises. Them locking out PC during the PC boom was a major miscalculation.

At the end of the day, I don't exclusives adds more creativity to title but it can potentially allow for a better product due to scope expanding. In a perfect world it would be best to play games on whatever platform you want, but you need publisher deals to either make game happen or to expand scope. I do prefer the way Microsoft is handling publisher deals where game launches on gamepass, but still available to other platforms.

What do you mean what do I mean? You didn't have access to it. Why did you ignore all the other things I listed? Those don't count? You said Sony is doing more, I provided evidence to the contrary and you just skip past it.

You can probably count the recent State of Play shows without a PC related announcement on one hand. Its only a matter of time until all that stuff comes over.

So you just think. How many first party games have been announced recently with a PC announcement? Marvel Tokon? Last state of play was a bunch Japanese games that are multiplatform titles.
And once they figure out a storefront it's over. Obviously there's a lot of politics with that right now.
Even if they did open a store front, if they still have their 1st party AAA games on PS5 only day 1, that is objectively better than simultaneously releasing something everywhere like Xbox is doing. I have yet to see something come out and feel "Damn man why?" Seems like the only response to the day 1 PS5 games are "But they're coming one day, just wait."
Okay, and until the day that is finalized and announced, a PS5/PS5 Pro is still the best place to play those games day 1 because that is the only place to play them. This whole conversation just boils down to a roundabout pocket watching discussion. PS5 Pro is $700-Part 2.

Being able to play the couple single player games they drop every year for an arbitrary exclusivity window is becoming a dying selling point. There's no more real exclusives cause anything is fair game now with coming to PC.

Sony is hurting themselves by putting their games everywhere for quick dollars. Better for the consumer though.
