Exclusives are a GOOD thing and without it, gaming would be WORSE off.

Would you prefer a game not exist at all instead of it being exclusive?

  • Yes, I rather a game be exclusive and exist than to not exist at all.

  • No, I want games to be everywhere and to stifle creativity *hides Xbox logo on shirt*

  • :mjlol: Sony stans

Without exclusives, the console market would consolidate over one platform which is bad for competition and thus innovation and prices. This is ECON 101.

Use Madden as a micro example: They don't have to compete with other NFL franchises, so the series never innovates.
Pretty much all games are on PC right now.

Consoles still sell just as much as they always have.

Your 101 doesn’t hold up to reality.

Consoles not having exclusives games makes them innovate in other ways to draw customers.

BG3 is on PS5, PC and Series X. How is this relevant?

Starfield was something exclusive to Xbox, they wanted it they bought it.

I know someone that copped an Xbox to play Halo Infinite. Is that good for consumers?

I know someone that spent $1000 to buy a PC to play COD Warzone, is that good for consumers?
no, I don't think having to purchase multiple pieces of hardware to play modern games is good for consumers. I have a PC with a a CPU, GPU, etc. why do I have to buy another box with a CPU, GPU, etc., to play different games?

But they aren’t on PC day 1 tho. For some it’s fine they can wait. For others that’s why they bought a PS5. Plus the convenience of console over pc is still an important factor.

Innovate how? What has been a single thing that has been innovative this gen excluding games? The last innovate thing was the OG switch back in 2017. Well maybe PlayStation VR2, but I haven’t messed with that. Haven’t heard much about it tbh.

No. Sony was bout to scrap that shyt. They didn’t believe in it at all. Miyazaki stepped in and fixed it. It was viewed as a spiritual successor to forms own game Kings field.
Sony Japan Studio played a crucial role in its initial development, funding, and production. This is true but to say that Sony had nothing to do with the game is not true.

You can play those on xbox right now :ahh:
but they're dusty and stuck on old hardware performance/fidelity. It's comparable to a modern day remaster/remake.

Naw and Naw

Currently can be played on a plethora of hardware.
It cannot be played on my PS5, that's anti consumer right?

Microsoft allowed insomniac to keep the IP.

Only reason the franchise is dead is because sony effectively killed it by turning insomniac into their Marvel game studio.
:mindblown:
How the hell does this have anything to do with Sony?
The "marvel games" have been amongst the best games released this gen. They also released Ratchet and Clank, another very successful and great game this generation.

In this instance, “exclusives” and the need for sony to use them to sell hardware has stifled one of the industries most creative studios.

But that’s a good thing right??? :usure:
Stifled? :mjlol:
Spider-Man 1 and 2 are amongst the best games this generation. Ratchet and Clank=Successful. Wovlerine has yet to be released, that may be very well ANOTHER banger. There's no one complaining here.

This is anti consumer and you don't say shyt about that because you don't care.

Why do I have to buy an Iphone to use an Apple Watch? Why do I need to buy another piece of plastic to use certain features? Why can't I play Counter Strike 2 on my PS5? Is Valve Anti Consumer?

sounds like Madden having the exclusive NFL license is stifling innovation

I mean it isn’t. Since it requires the consumer to spend more. It’s more a benefit of these companies. It should be put on them to make a game that is worth being exclusive.

People bought a switch just to play botw when it came out. People bought a PS4 to play Spider-Man.

Of course things being exclusives isn’t a good thing if the product being putting on will sell and the companies don’t give a crap about innovation. Pokemon and Madden with the Pokemon company and EA showing the worst aspects of exclusives.

I'm arguing against exclusives, and you keep coming back to this dumb shyt like "what about Valve and Nvidia"? :sadcam:

man fukk them too. Nvidia having better exclusive features has allowed them to raise prices. good for their bottom line, but not good for consumers

because I never see you saying anything about exclusives being bad when it comes to things on PC, other consumer electronics and Nintendo. It's not dumb shyt, it's exposing your hypocrisy. You're always "Sony stans said...:ohhh:" and making quips about Playstation but then stay silent about the same behavior elsewhere. My posts aren't in Chinese, I've made my position on these things clear over the years lol.

Hypocrisy would be me shytting on Nintendo/Xbox for having exclusive games while praising exclusives on Sony platforms. I've said it on record many times that if Xbox had kept a lot of their games exclusive, I would've probably got more involved with their ecosystem. Hell, the "perks and benefits" that @The Mad Titan scream ad nauseam on here would probably benefit me as well. I'm not anti-exclusive.

Didn’t say they had nothing to do with it.

I said being “exclusive” almost killed it.
but they're dusty and stuck on old hardware performance/fidelity. It's comparable to a modern day remaster/remake.
They are not stuck at the whim of a console maker. They do not need to be used as bait to sell consoles.
Their dev/publisher can do what the will with them.

Unlike From and Bloodborne
It cannot be played on my PS5, that's anti consumer right?
Yes, and that’s sony fault.
:mindblown:

They purchased Insomniac to make exclusive games for them. Killing their ability to work on their great franchises and be creative in their own right.

Stifled? :mjlol:

The spider-man games are ok. But your thread is about creativity. There’s nothing really creative or innovative about using a decades old comic book franchise that has had countless games.

Insomniacs other stuff was creative and unique. They can not do any of that stuff now because they are the marvel game factory telling stories that have been told and exploring characters that have already been explorered with shallow movie game gameplay.

Sunset overdrive is a unique and innovative game. Spider-man is as cookie cutter as it gets.

Insomniac is a perfect example of how your thread is full of shyt

Only people that complain about exclusive content are the one who want the play the game without supporting the platform.

Nobody says nintendo is bad for having its own games.

all consoles used to be exclusive,

Nintendo isn’t “bad” for having their own games.

Having their own games is what allows them to be “bad”
