KB/M is so superior to a controller in FPS, it's not even funny. Get the highest DPI mouse possible (and a desk). It'll take about a week to get used to the very high DPI (the mouse moves very, very quickly), but you'll be so more accurate once you can control it effectively. :wow:
People say this all the time but honestly, is pin point accuracy with a mouse more realistic than having to balance a joystick?

As someone that has shot plenty of guns in my life, while nether feels life like, a joystick mimics the difficulty of aiming and shooting a gun far better than the pin point accuracy of a mouse.

Guns have weight and kickback, balancing a joystick gives you that feeling much better than a weightless mouse.

I'm actually going to make a thread talking about this. Been gaming on a controller for 25+ years and my first game with KB/M was Overwatch... going to debunk a lot of the bullshyt superiority complex that PC gamers have toward console brehs.

so you've been playing with a KB+M for a month and you believe that you're experienced enough to make a thread """"debunking"""" a superiority complex(whatever that means)?:jbhmm:

When playing a shooting game, I'm not looking for realism (although I do have some gun sim VR games that are pretty realistic). If I wanna go shot a real gun, I'll go to the range.

It's just a game to me. You can be much more accurate with a mouse, which makes it more fun than a controller (to me). I'm from the old school though and grew up with PC shooting games. I'm sure others grew up playing console shooters with a controller and aim assist, etc, so they probably like, and think, that is better. That's cool to me.

Ironically, I use my X1 controller for all other genres. Third person mouse and keyboard doesn't do it for me. But for FPS it does. It's just about what's easier and more fun.

And if you're playing PC shooters competitively online, you basically have to use a m/kb, or you'll get slaughtered.

I guess it's a matter of opinion then cause when I play shooter games, especially realistic military shooters, I want it to feel as real as possible. Pin pointing a headshot from 500 miles doesn't appeal to me. Having m16s fire like laser guns kinda breaks the immersion.

But atleast we can agree that a joystick gives a more life like experience.

the accuracy of the mouse doesn't mean the game doesn't compensate for bullet-drop, recoil, weapon-drift, wind, etc

playing Arma I actually had to learn what all those tic marks in scopes mean to estimate distance

Idk how people play games, slouch down, under a blanket, recliner back, or etc whatever dumb shyt that was mention in this thread.

Controller or kB/m, I'm sitting up straight either or a couch or a chair.

So all that dumb shyt about comfort makes no sense to me. Are you about to take a fukking nap/watch a movie or actively mentally engaging in this interactive media(aka playing a video game)?

Ive been playing with KB/M and Controller back to back for almot 20 years. Im also a legitimate/somewhat well known PC Game modder and Ive developed a few PC games myself..

I still think Controllers are much more comfortable and have a nice feel to them... especially the Playstation & SNES controllers. With Playstation, the right analog stick is lower which means not having to reach with my thumb as opposed to the Xbox controllers, plus the L1/R1 buttons arent curved as the are on the 360 which makes it easier to tap em (I play shooting games with L1/R1 instead of the triggers, been like that on some PS1 games and hella PS2/3/P games)

with keyboards using a WASD config for games (I like using Arrow Keys to be honest), my fingers tend to get stiff after a while and in some stealth games it doesnt work too good due to not having a pressure sensor compared to having an analog stick where you can lightly push forward to move a character slower. Same could be said for racing games on the PC, which is why I remember in the 90s there were hella different kinds of Racing wheels for PC. The mouse just feels weird to me for games where you actually move and aim, plus i hate how most games make you use a toggle configuration for aiming, that shyts annoying as hell because I prefer holding down my button to aim then letting go to stop doing so, its much faster that way...

I will say that using a Mouse for a game like House of the Dead is fun as shyt. same with the old Virtua Cop game I used to have on PC

anyway each person has a different preference for how they control a character, and one way should not be put above another as that would be like saying baths are better than showers or some stupid bullshyt like that

Arma is ultra realistic and kinda a extreme example.

Getting on target as accurately as you can with a mouse is not as realistic as having to balance a joystick on a controller. It takes alot more concentration to maneuver a joystick, mouse is all about twitch reactions.

Im sure my post is going to be ignored in favor of attacking the person who said they have only played with a mouse and keyboard for overwatch.

people are easy to predict, they rather go down the path of least resistance where they know they would win instead of standing up to someone who has been PC gaming probably as long or if not longer than them...

things that only the weak do.

Yea, you're right about keyboards not having a pressure sensor, but to compensate for this gave usually give us a 'walk slow' key(usually shift or ctrl), but this isn't a perfect substitute since you cant gradually increase or decrease your movement speed, but I think it works well for stealth games but probably not racing games.

Also what games only give you the toggle option for aiming down sights? Dont most PC games let you choose if you want to toggle or hold?

Playing a FPS with a controller is nothing more than torture, no idea how anyway can stand it. And I was using controllers waaaaaaay before K/bm.
