It started with outside interference. First the Russians, Yemeni and Ethiopians to set the stage for destabilization (Ogaden War). Now Gulf Arabs and Saudis are funding the group responsible for this (Al-Shabaab), and are keeping Somalia destabilized.

All that being said there's no excuse for murdering your own like this. Al-Shabaab is disgusting and a blight on the Somali people. But it's more complex than religion (not that it's helping), I say that as a former Muslim myself. Add corruption into the mix, with lack of education. Also people's livelihoods being tampered with (illegal fishing, and dumping in their waters) and the cycle continues.

Radicalism feeds off of ignorance. I hope Somalia becomes stable soon. It's a beautiful country with resources, and a strong-willed people.

RIP to the victims :francis:

I suspect that 25 or 30 years in the future Somaliland and Puntland will grow so rich that the rest of Somalia will join them. This is basically a fight over a bag.

Yea all that maybe true but it still excuses. Somalia have enough resources to be a successful on its own 2. That just a copout.

It's honestly not but that's your opinion. When you have multi layered issues like that, things simply won't get done even if the means to prosperity is available.

I think Somalis will pull through. They're going through a long rough patch, and the diaspora is growing older and will pitch in to prop Somalia up.

I’m not saying that to be negative tho breh. No matter what you are going through if you don’t pull yourself out of it you going to be fukked and be left behind until somebody help you. That’s go for everything in life.

Only weak things can be so easily destabilized. If you ain’t got a string base to begin with the you are more susceptible to outside and inside influences.

The people who will help them will take advantage of them also..even tho is beneficial to all for a stable Somalia. Ain’t nobody stepping in for free.

For example China is helping a lot of African counties but it is coming with a price but sometimes that is better than the former. Stability no matter fukked the situation is is better than instability. We have seen that play out in real time over the last 20 years.

You're right, self-determination is key of course. I have relatives who own large plots of land/hotels in the SomaliLand and Puntland regions. The value is steadily going up from what they told me so it bodes well.

I have been told the Chinese are present, I'm not a fan of that. If they dog out their own (Uighurs who are also Muslim), what will they do to the locals. Turkey has been a good ally to Somalia, but there's no such thing as a free lunch period.

I'm hoping the 2020s ushers in peace and prosperity to Somalia.
