I'm a start right off by saying I've been a victim of low self-esteem.
I have this weird theory that the black man in America has been programmed to have low self-esteem. I feel we've been programmed to believe that we can't succeed or even attempt to do something in life some times because we have this mindset of "it's because I'm black" or "man there are a lot of white people."
Of course we have been set for failure in history, but I believe the mindset of that has been forced upon us as a crutch to prevent the black community from being the best that we can be.
I talked to my grandpa last weekend. He told me countless stories of all the fun and eventful shyt he did at my age. At first I thought he was doing the ducktales but my grandma and a few of his friends there confirmed all this shyt. I asked him how did he make his life that fukking fun? His response was basically all of his older brothers and sistsers were to shy to do anything so he felt like had to have the self-esteem of all them plus some to be absolute best person he can be. And at the age of 68 my grandpa still walking and talking with the attitude of a 20 something year old always talking shyt, healthy, and feeling like hes cool as hell, which I love that about him.
And ever since then thinking about that my mindset has been changed.
-I went from I hope this doesn't happen to a I wish a mother fukker would
-I'm probably the best in my classes at what I do
- Why not go to these places or participate in these events?
- Yeah she's pretty but how does that make her better than you to not even try with her and if she curves you it's an L on her part
-Those people over there not better than you!
I know its some silly shyt I'm talking about. But I have suffered from low-self esteem and I know there are some coli brothers who deal with this as well. Just know your self-esteem starts with YOU brothers! Change that mindset of can't to can. You should feel like you are the best in the room.
Trust me having a great mindset about yourself changes life 180 degrees.
