Your father is a piece of shyt but it sounds like you already knew given how he raised you. As far as the grandmother i'm guessing she thought he would pass along the inheritance or she has a totally different relationship with him than you do.

Let's just say my grandma was one of those extremely intelligent people that borderline genius and insanity. At her funeral a speaker said she was "straight jacket crazy." The whole crowd bust out into laughter.

Its both. My paternal side has kept stuff hidden from me and my bro our whole lives.
And I can't give anymore details than what I've already told.
Like i said there has been years worth of abuse. Secrets. Lies. Narcissism. We were basically hidden from her life. No one knew who we were at her funeral. They didn't even know about her son (my dad). I think the money she left him was like apology money for being a horrible mom to him. So she left it all to him.
