I think there are a few reasons to the phenomenon of pro-1% responses here.

In America, we consider the rich to be Gods. We dont question them. We just exist in their world. If we suck up to em enough, one day they might be generous enough to make us one of them. :mindblown:

Powerless mentality. Many feel like they are powerless to challenge big time corporate America, so they bristle at the notion; however, these cats do feel power in challenging the fast food workers, because they consider them lower on society's rung. Its kind of like the punk who wont stand up to the bully of the block, who takes his money, but he'll beat on the 95 pound weakling who is minding his own business. :rudy:

Hater mentality. I know everyone here is IT, six figga niqqa, but from some of the responses I have a suspicion that 15 n hour would be a come up for some. Straight up, they dont wanna see niqqas come up and get theirs, so they would rather the corporate daddies keep that money and ship it to the cayman islands, then to see one of their friends make a decent hourly wage. :rudy:

SMH.

Can I say what is wrong with this country?

We are becoming more like Europe. We adopted a lot of their failing programs and we are circling the drain just like they are.

There is no other nation like America. America has exported its genius, culture and industriousness to almost every other nation on the planet.

This is why many Americans do not adopt a woe is me attitude. Europeans came from a feudal system where benefits and titles and land were granted from above. Of course they are used to begging for handouts.

The poorest of poor African doesn't complain as much as Americans and Europeans. A victimhood mentality is pervading the culture.

Black Africans come here, not hating the rich, but wanting to be the rich. No complaining, just working.

We have been trained and conditioned through American schooling and media that if you want something you have to beg someone to give it to you. Someone must grant it for you, you cannot do it yourself.

The idea is that you have to march and petition and complain and strike. LOL This is not at all the American way. The men who shaped American didn't wait for anyone to give them anything, they took it.

The government has helped create this dependency, by making people utterly dependent on it. The idea of NOT BEING INDEPENDENT is a new thing for Americans. Most Americans had to make it and survive on their own. Most of the settlers were not rich, could not afford slaves, and did not own plantations. No one waited on anyone to give them something.

It's dog eat dog. You are a part of a pack of wolves, no you cannot wait on another bigger wolf to provide for you. You have to do it yourself.

So this is not about loving the rich, but about how crazy this mentality that states that you should give me more just because I need it.

Family is extremely important. I used to see a lot of Hispanics living in trailer parks. One day this Mexican came into a check cashing to cash his check and I was like  :ohhh: :steviej:. I was like why do so many of them live in these trailer parks or these beat down apartment buildings. When you start seeing them start businesses, you know where that money went. :youngsabo:

The problem is that people use the government like it is their family. They need somewhere to stay, they go to the gov't. They need something to eat, they go to the gov't. They need a babysitter, they go to the gov't. They need someone to take care of grandma, because she is old, they go to the gov't. They need a cell phone, etc.

How do you wake up a population that expects, demands, deserves, and is entitled to everything. You can't. Soon it won't be food, it will be I deserve christmas toys for my kids. What upsets me is that this mentality isn't suffered by white people so much as it is suffered by black people.

Furthermore, if McDonalds cannot comply with this request, they should restructure their business to become more profitable, or be swept aside by regional chains and small businesses who can. McDonalds and other large corporations have been subsidized through their low wages for too long.

Market and welfare arguments reversed on these clowns? Interesting. :sayword:

This is the definition of :snoop:

You realize that most corporate compensation comes in the form of stock options? That means that the top executives are being paid through stocks that have ZERO effect on the financials, but lets move on.

Out of the 100k workers working for McDonalds, how many of them are full time employees and not part time? Factoring that in, how many of the employees are full time and still do not make a living wage, so much so that the government is subsidizing their lives with food stamps rent assistance welfare EITC etc etc? The entire purpose of allowing corporations to function and build businesses with the unfettered use of our legal protections and infrastructure is that they employee people and give them a living wage, otherwise what do they contribute to the society, if their employees STILL need a great amount of assistance?

Frankly, the taxpayers are SUBSIDIZING McDonalds if they cannot afford to pay a living wage to its employees which is above the federal assistance poverty line (which they can). Furthermore, if McDonalds cannot comply with this request, they should restructure their business to become more profitable, or be swept aside by regional chains and small businesses who can. McDonalds and other large corporations have been subsidized through their low wages for too long.
the fukk are you talking about?
Mcdonalds is able to do what they do because people buy their hamburgers.
They dont owe anybody anything else.

If those workers were concerned w/ making more money then how about the increase their value, or find another job?

Im sorry, but the only way you end up at Mcdonalds as a permanent cashier is that you fukked up. Its not their fault.

It's a very difficult concept to grasp but the dollar goes both ways... a profit can be made in an unproductive and productive manner. In Norway the oil companies lose almost 85% of PROFITS, PROFITS to the government in royalties before they get any, and still have to pay taxes... yet people are bidding out the ass to get that black gold... because it's profitable.

I could run a gigantic food chain and sell 1 dollar burgers if I knew I could pay my employees such a low wage that the govt would pick up the rest of the slack... maybe we don't need to live in a world of dollar burgers and fries... a novel concept :why:

Im sorry. This post is awful. This is the exact self-loathing mentality that has extracted our wealth as a middle class, and designed our historically imbalanced economic distribution in favor of the wealthy. Fighting for your rights as a worker is not a "woe is me" attitude. I hope you know that with that post you are directly insulting men like Martin Luther King, Cesar Chavez, and other luminary figures.

that's what I'm sayin. I dont ever see anyone saying how as a regular cat, I deserve a raise just cuz. If I want a raise, I either gotta earn one or find a new job. of course this could apply to fast food workers. not saying u gon get rick makin fries, but u could aspire to get a better job. working at costco would pay more and get u good benefits given you have a limited education. why society always wanna help the cats on the two extremes of the economic scale but give the finger to the rest of us in the middle that represent the majority of the population???
