DUDE, YOU CANT BE SERIOUS? I was raised not to look down on any job. I do remember my mom working fast food as a part time from her Federal government job when I was little to. Anything can happen in life breh, wouldnt you want somebody who may have to resort to that job due to circumstance at least being able to cover themselves slightly? I mean damn y'all

Fam, I'm not looking down on ANYBODY. Seriously, I'm not. I worked fast food all through my youth.

I just see an inherent disparity in unskilled laborers getting $15/hr and somebody with a degree getting that same $15. Has nothing to do with "privilege" from having a degree or anything like that, as some have suggested. It just doesn't seem economically sound or feasible in the long-term. Maybe I'm wrong.....

But nah, it's not a knock on anybody's way of making a living whatsoever, I ain't even on that, potna.

Here's my thinking....nobody should be trying to survive off of a Fast Food salary alone. Get up, go to school, get some certs, do something to better your life. There's no reason why a person should be able to sit at home, get a part-time job at McDonalds, and be able to live "comfortably." There are jobs that are at the bottom of the pyramid and they're there for a reason, and they need to stay there.

writing off entire sectors of the labor force just because you deem them lowly or not respectable doesn't make sense tho

thats only like 25k a year why yall mad?
yall dont understand that corporations have increased worker efficiency by making them do more work for the same amount of pay when you take into account inflation
while they make record profits fukk outta here
it should be around 11-13 to be fair but i have no problem the ceo making damn near a billi every year and he do less work than them
Less than 3% of workers get paid minimum wage. It's not something that will help uneducated, low skilled workers, because companies would just hire better workers to since they're paying more. People that talk about raising the minimum wage much higher, falsely assume the job, and the same hours will be there after the increase.

Things would adjust. There's no place where wages are high, and cost of living is cheap.

Lack basic understanding of capitalism brehs.

There's no place where wages are high, and cost of living is cheap.

But quality of life is higher in all those places because increased wage > companies increasing prices

Stop looking for these corporations to save you. Start your own shyt. Niching and small business is the only way the country will get back on track.

This is just another excuse for corporations to implement kiosks. Chances are they'll get get your order right more often anyway.
Theres this small mom and pop chain restaurant here in Philadelphia region, chickies and petes. The owner wasnt just content with his profits, he started stealing the employee's tips. Thats the life of a property owner.

I agree with this, actually.

I don't want to exclude ANYBODY, I just question the economics of it all, despite this cat @Jhoon being on some rah-rah shyt.

you bringing up kiosks is very important to hear. So many times you hear "It aint enough jobs and Obama aint providing jobs nshyt. Technology is the biggest culprit. I remember it was easier to go to a grocery store and get a job. All that shyt getting cut due to self service kiosks.

only a matter of time before you can punch your order up anyway and limit basically your staff even more.

So you do realize wage increases essentially means nothing right
Wage increases mean something in this economy. It means more income leads to more consumption, and more of that leads right back into higher wages. Unfortunately, theres been a hiccup in that cycle. Consumption is there, but the increase in wages never get there. What youre looking at is a blinds thats halfway up on one side and blocking the shade on the other.

Not writing them off, and idk maybe I was being harsh.
It's just frustrating to an extent to me, cause I could live satisfactorily off $15/hr in Virginia.
Yet, I've already put in the time and effort into going to college, etc

Technology is supposed to help us all, not just goose the margins for property owners.

Theres nothing better than ordering your food in an app and picking it up. No tips for the waitresses in that world either.
