shyt my friends pops works at Costco. This nikka make over $20 and hour :why:.

No degree. He been working there for years but my homeboy said they start you out close to $12 an hour.

I mean fast food workers do get paid scraps but a lot of professional people should get paid more as well.

That's why these threads are so hilarious. Dumb mofawgas come in here like "you bum azz nikkas don't deserve $15/hr to flip burgers :camby: I went to college...I deserve the $15/hr....not realizing his crab hating azz is being grossly underpaid to begin with. The entire system is fukked up, when you have kids taking out $40,000 in loans to start off barely making $30,000 a year. Before tax. Notice these posters are perfectly fine with the CEOs and the CFOs and the COOs making 250x what workers make :mjpls: and they're perfectly fine with the fact that wages haven't kept up with productivity for decades now :mjpls: and they're perfectly fine with the fact that the manufacturing jobs that these low-skilled individuals could have easily worked like our grandparents worked decades before were outsourced overseas by those SAME CEOs and CFOs so they could squeeze expenses further and afford to pay themselves 250x workers' wages to begin with :mjpls:

Not writing them off, and idk maybe I was being harsh.
It's just frustrating to an extent to me, cause I could live satisfactorily off $15/hr in Virginia.
Yet, I've already put in the time and effort into going to college, etc
Youre taking a national problem and trying to make sense of it. That is your problem, you have a mind that comes with an imagination button. Go ahead and press it.

as someone whos works service industry, as well as my Mother owning & running restaraunts their whole life.. $15/hr for a fast-food worker is laughable..

they dont have to prep, cook, barely have to clean(and, were not even gonna discuss deep-cleaning).. they provide a service.. they hand you food, thats more than often already pre-made.. is the minimun ridiculous..? well- it(should, at least) depends on your duties..

hell.. a dishwasher at a busy/upscale restaurant barely/might make $10/hr.. and, that job makes fast-food jobs look like a walk in the park..:heh:

Wage increases mean something in this economy. It means more income leads to more consumption, and more of that leads right back into higher wages. Unfortunately, theres been a hiccup in that cycle. Consumption is there, but the increase in wages never get there. What youre looking at is a blinds thats halfway up on one side and blocking the shade on the other.

Breh you do realize that prices go up once more money is in the economy. :mjlol:

If it went up all the way to $15 then they'd have to increase wages up the ladder accordingly...so it shouldn't be quite that high if your minimum wage is currently set at $8/hr like it is in Ohio. There needs to be a significant gap in pay between entry-level and professional work.

But in states like California and NY, and metropolitan areas where the cost of living is high, hell yes the minimum wage should be higher than what it is. If you have someone that has to take care of a family on $9/hr in Cali, they won't be able to make it.

its 13% but either way thats still fudging the numbers shyt that rich people love to do all the time its a talking point for republicans
oh only 3% of workers get minimum wage
ok they dont get 7.25 they get 7.50 or 7.75 or 8 thats still below the poverty line bruh that shyt is killing the country
This is where I got it from:
To do so, we turned to a study published by Bureau of Labor Statistics -- the federal government’s official chronicler of employment and wage data -- titled, "Characteristics of Minimum Wage Workers: 2012." It was released on Feb. 26, 2013.

The study found that a little under 3.6 million workers were paid either at or below the federal minimum wage. (The study did not look at whether workers were paid higher minimum wage rates set by their state, as many states have done.)

To determine the percentage,we looked at the number of Americans employed. That number ranged between about 133 million and 134 million during 2012.

If you divide the two numbers, it turns out that, by the official statistics, roughly 2.6 percent of all American workers were earning the minimum wage in 2012.

And people are only looking at the increase when it comes to big corporations, while forgetting about smaller businesses.

Theres this small mom and pop chain restaurant here in Philadelphia region, chickies and petes. The owner wasnt just content with his profits, he started stealing the employee's tips. Thats the life of a property owner.

I'm from Philly...everything there is shytty. They'll continue to not get a dime from me.

Here's my thinking....nobody should be trying to survive off of a Fast Food salary alone. Get up, go to school, get some certs, do something to better your life. There's no reason why a person should be able to sit at home, get a part-time job at McDonalds, and be able to live "comfortably." There are jobs that are at the bottom of the pyramid and they're there for a reason, and they need to stay there.

here's my thinking... every hard working american should be fairly rewarded for their effort.

:what:

Why? How?

Not being facetious, I'm genuinely interested to hear how you think that would work.

And...if minimum wage is $25/hr, and a person CURRENTLY makes $30/hr, does THEIR pay rate go up, as well? And who gon' pay for all that there?
Based on the rate of inflation in relation to wages, however it is far fetched to think it would work :manny:

The money is being redistributed to the top. No more benefits, the government had to pick up the tab. No more perks, the government needs to demand a 3 week vacation for everyone. No more money into research, the government will soon have to foot ths bill for higher education. The private sector is almost finished pillaging that sweet American p*ssy. I feel sorry for the next guy who wifes her (government).
