Producers ain't even the problem tho. He's had Pete Rock, Premo, Statik, Fame, Nash Mack, LES, TM, Bink, Buckwild, XP, dude J Waxx Garfield who gave Mega some heat...Heatmakerz, RZA...I'm sure there's a few I missed. Quran Q-Ball did one of my favs What Your Day About...

He needs someone to help reel it in

These rappers just lazy. They don't want to call the legends because they're going to make them work. Premier isn't going to let you slack so they just get some young beat maker to give them something on the cheap, they bullshyt in the studio with their yes men, lay some vocals, and call that an album. You can see it in the artwork, videos, and hear it in the music. Everything is low grade and they're not even trying. Just retire at that point.

Westside Gunn been asking these guys to let him handle their albums but they know he's trying to get them to be great but they don't want to put in the effort. They see that Griselda work ethic and want no parts of it.

Pete been dropping fire every project. He hasn't lost a step and the album he does with Common will be better than anything AZ or The Lox have done in 20 years.

I agree that Fat Joe isnt needed but I dont feel like he should be messing around with Pete Rock or guys like that either. While you say Pete been dropping heat, thats your opinion but it has to be the right sound to get A back in the groove. A one-producer album could be good. The problem isnt the producers so much as the beats he is picking. If he wants to work with a name producer who REALLY can put together a sound more up A's alley, get B!nk. he did one joint on the last project but he really still got that fire. But literally, there are probably about 50 producers I could name easily that would be great for him to work with. I will agree it doesnt seem like A is very serious about the music he is releasing.

Fat Joe has so many relationships and connections with literally everybody in the industry tho…not to mention his knack for finding/making hot ass records…I don’t see how AZ could lose in this situation. The promo will be there, the invites/embrace will be there from the industry people…if the music is fire then AZ super good!

AZ ain't got that extra gear...

He's content wit making "dated" records that sound like generic stuff from his era

When I listened to Doe Or Die 2 I didn’t hear a “lazy” rapper who didn’t want to work. Sosa was spitting his ass of on that joint

Man AZ doesn't need "hot ass records." He's pushing 50 and is far removed from that kind of relevancy. All the things you're saying Joe brings to the table is not what AZ needs in 2023. If Nas isn't selling records in 2023 what's AZ gonna do with "promo."

What he needs is to simplify things and just make a great album. No more random ass beats from random producers. One producer, one album.

Pete
Ski Beatz
Premier

He can call any of them and they'd be willing to work with him. It's guaranteed to come out great.

The older generation of NY rappers like The Lox been putting out garbage because they're working with nobodies. Your fan base is old and if you want to get them excited link with the producers they connect with. You're not gaining new fans so give your audience what they want to hear.
I’d add Statik Selektah to this list as well

Given the run he's been on in recent years - I'd listen to an AZ/ Muggs joint album :ehh:

Whoever said Rozay would be a good exec producer - that's a great call. I've always thought 'Mo Money. Mo Murder' was the sound that Ross was trying to emulate with the orchestral joints he gets on.

Fat Joe is unnecessary.

All AZ needs to do is link with one producer and let them do their thing. He can get Pete Rock and get the same kind of production Skyzoo or DZA got and he'll have a great album. Ski Beatz would be great as well.

His last few albums have been all over the place with production or he's getting throwaways. Get in the studio with one person and focus.

Ski Beatz would be absolutely perfect

What’s with all this forcing of Fat Joe everywhere? I must’ve been underestimating how much influence and pull he has in hip hop all this time. Like AZ, Slick Rick, AND Nas? Where the hell does Fat Joe fit in this picture, respectfully?
