Disagree, people need to learn how to cook rather than eating mcdonalds everyday.
Not everyone has time to cook, the ingredients to cook, or the necessary utensils.
Eggs may be cheap for breakfast, but having a refrigerator, a gas or electric range, the pans, the spatula, and salt and pepper are all outside expenses.
How often do you cook meals?

Tess Holliday who have the access to trainers and nutritionists and choose to be grossly obese solely out of making a statement, that's just foolishness.
I agree. Those people are dangerous to the community. Poverty and obesity do go hand in hand. And unfortunately black people tend to live in underdeveloped neighborhoods. Great point about the store being hella far away. I noticed in the hood getting fresh bread is nearly impossible unless it's a mixed race community.

But you aint even fat :patrice:
i assure you i am, size 14 or 16:guilty: is fat.

Make sure it isn't her disliking your overall appearance, but instead her caring about your health an well being. Remember the truth hurts, but it is better than being comforted by a lie.
oh im sure a small part of it is concern for my health, but ive shown her my annual physical/blood test results and she still didnt stop. also the fact that i dont have straight hair and my skin is not light enough are the actual problems, my cousin is a similar size and she rarely says anything to her.

Naw. 14 and 16 is great for me. The last girl I dared was a size 14 and her body was perfect to me. She was perfectly proportioned. I've dated all sorts of girls. Her body was my favorite. But she also had low self esteem.

She never let me see her stomach. She used to hide from me if she was naked until I started having sex with her in broad day light with the blinds open. I'd walk around our house naked too so she'd be more comfortable. She was the hottest girl I ever dated but also had the lowest self esteem.

:mjlol:just because people like having sex with me doesnt mean that im not fat. and this exactlly what i mean, im overweight by all parameters, medical and visual, but i would never get "fat shamed" in the black community

I think the biggest contributor to AA health is food deserts.

If its a grocery store in the hood they have a crappy selection of healthy foods or the fast food joints, corner stores, quik stops are of more convience to the family thats already limited on funds.

Also I see adults now fix meals with no vegetables. Thats because they didn't grow up eating them. They can't eat broccoli unless its covered in cheese or a sweet potato unless its been doused in sugar, butter, and honey. I see plates with a huge steak, mac n cheese, and fried corn on the cob and swear its healthy. They aren't willing to change up some of those bad habits for a healthier, longer, pharmaceutical free lifestyle.

There are a few issues I see with the obesity epidemic in the black community. I've moved from a predominately white environment to Chicago and some of the things I've seen food wise is crazy. First of all, I used to live on a street with at least 4 fried chicken shops on two blocks, three liquor stores, a "grocery" (corner) store that sells already moldy, spoiled produce, and a few more small food shops. There is no grocery store for miles. It's a food desert. If anyone wanted to eat healthy and didn't have adequate transportation it would be a HUGE hassle.

I see women in the store on the 1st with the link card with two carts full of TV dinners and sugary cereals while their kids are begging for candy. No fresh veggies, or even canned for that matter are in the cart. But! There is a reason for this. My cousin who is a case worker for the city was talking to me about this. She bought up a valid point that I never thought of. She said first of all, if someone is on food stamps (I believe) they get their money on the 1st. Fresh produce isn't going to last for the whole month. A lot of the families don't have stable living arrangements so they buy non perishable food which is meant to last but laden with chemicals and preservatives. Now, I obviously know not all black people live in poverty, but obesity has become a largely economic issue.

Black women have larger frames as well. I am victim of this myself. I don't eat that badly but I struggle with my weight and I see people that weigh less than me look much larger. I'm not saying I'm at my healthiest and there aren't things I can do to improve my situation (I'm working on it), but I wouldn't say I LOOK fat. I am shapes...

I think there has been a push to educate people on the issue in the community. I see some urban gardens popping up where people are able to plant fruits and veggies and some have taken advantage, but obviously not everyone knows. I actually found a list of black owned farms in each state where they sell their produce or participate in farmer's markets. I'm going to see if I can find it.
