why do people romanticize the past and blatantly lie :mjlol:
Lil Kim n Foxy and countless female rappers of the 90s were just as bad if not worse
cussing and talking how good they pussc was and how many nyggas they fukked

The thing about Cardi is her personality, lifestyle, life story and persona is she is the "stripper that made it"

Its not like Lil Kim had live videos of her dancing in the strip club popping her p*ssy in real life. Cardi does. She literally living her raps. Its a whole different level of influence.

With girls like Kim and Nicki there is still a aspect of separation of "entertainment" with Cardi B its her life. Its like the difference between Chief Keef and a Mobb Deep.

Which is EXACTLY why DRILL MUSIC had the wide spread negative influence on the youth that it did. Despite the fact one can argue Mobb Deep's music was prolly more violent.

True but at least back in the day you had balance. Rnb was still popping and people like Erykah and Lauryn were blazing the charts also (and yes I know they were kind of trifling behind the music but at least it wasn't on front street)
the same type of artist exist now

No, I wouldnt let her feel comfortable enough to play that around me. I'd encourage healthy discussions about the world and try to get her to understand my point of view as opposed to outright objecting to something she has interest in. However I'd hope she would develop her own discernment aswell.

In general I wouldnt want my daughter's primary musical taste to be hip hop, whether its bird brain chronicles, tarot cards and pyramids or lyrical queen pinning.

Sure.

I listened to Mobb deep, biggie, Camron, MOP, etc as a kid who said much worse and I brought home A’s and B’s.

Forbidding children to listen to or watch something will guarantee they will rebel against you.

Trust they have the maturity and intelligence to consume media without it taking over their lives

Hopefully. I would never underestimate peer pressure though :francis:

I was sneak listening to 2 Live Crew at 9-10

I can’t control their listening habits

I can control teaching them why Cardi is who she is and why not to be like her.

Cardi and Nicki are two sides of the same coin…

Their songs be ratchet but yet empowering.

If I let her hear Cardi, then she has to hear

Jean Grae
Queen Latifah
Gangsta Boo
Lil Kim
Foxy Brown
Missy Elliott

Female rap needs to be fun again.

Cardi and Nicki is finna be the female version of Nas vs Jay-Z.

I have twin 14 year olds and I’m so glad they don’t like rap in general .
Not that I could stop them from listening to certain music , but I wouldn’t like it .
My parents hated the music I listened to when I was growing up but they never banned me
lol they fooled your ass
