I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Idk what the consensus on Everlast is on TheColi. Personally, he's kind of meh overall—but he's got some tracks that hit different. "Jump Around" with House of Pain is a classic, and I've always vibed with "What It's Like," "Put Your Lights On," "Black Jesus," and "I Can't Move." But what really stands out to me is the album cover for Eat at Whitey's. Honestly, it's really an underrated album cover IMO.

Diner settings have always caught my eye (I currently have Edward Hopper's Nighthawks as the background on my phone screen), so maybe that's why this cover resonates with me. There's something about that crowded diner scene—so much happening all at once, yet everyone seems to be in their own world—that really pulls me in. The dark colors and gritty urban vibe perfectly capture the blend of rap, rock, and blues that Everlast brings to the table. It's like the cover sets the mood for the whole album, giving you a visual taste of what's to come before you even hit play.

Back in the day, diners were the go-to hangout spots for high schoolers like me. A lot of the Class of 2004 would head to the one across the street from our HS after watching the football or basketball games on Friday nights, and that nostalgic feel just adds another layer to the cover as the years go on. It's like a visual snapshot of those times. It's kind of sad that diners are becoming more of a product from a bygone era. They weren't just places to grab a meal—they were social hubs where memories were made.

...

Damn. I just said a whole lot for a mostly forgettable album from the early 00's. :heh:
