East of cottage Grove is currently being gentrified too. It's a totally different vibe from like 15 20 yrs ago.

But I don't see the fuss is about. Better to utilize that school as a shelter than leaving it vacant. Just damn near half of the property that was vacant in that neighborhood before gentrification started taking effect (by all races to btw)

I know this would happen. Idk how black Chicago can be so obvious to how they're being replaced. I noticed life improved for a lot of black man when they was sent back to the border.

Party before race breh. The democratic party made these people go along with black and brown coalition starting when Obama was in office. You cannot be a black politician here in Chicago if you fight just for black people.. You must say "black and brown" or the establishment will call you a racist. Mexicans can fight just for themselves and its no problem. The hate we have for one another in the black community is depressing here. 8 F*CKING BLACK CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR MAYOR!!! They can't even sit down and figure out amongst themselves who's the best candidate between them. Shyt is so sad.

I peep this on the news a couple of nights ago. That’s some dirty ass shyt on the city’s/Lightfoot’s part.

They’re gonna mess around and have some ol’ MS-13 type fukks infesting these communities. I sound like I’m spitting hyperbole and nonsense, but literally this is how the seeds of gang wars get planted

I keep up with local politics in this city and I must say from my observations black people here did this to themselves. We fck ourselves over trying to keep politicians in office who don't have none of our interests in mind. And a lot of the black elected officials here are puppets, bought by the rulings party to mislead the black community. Its bad now, and it will get worse in the next 5-10 unless black people unite and deal will ALL of our issues.
Keeping it 100, it's over as a collective. It's 2023. Brehs keep pushing the timeline further and further into the future like other races are stagnant waiting for us to catch up. They are making progress today, they not talking about what they need to do tomorrow, they are doing it. They bussing in new Hispanics while stopping Black immigrants at the border. You can't catch up if you are 50-100 years behind everybody else. Plus we outnumbered and outgunned. It's gonna get spooky this decade.

But I'm sure Black people especially Black women will continue to vote Democrat. When your vote is balanced and the parties can't predict who you will vote for each election, they fight for it and actually do things that benefit your race. Nobody wondering which party Black people will vote for and here we are.

Democrats are on this dumb immigration ship but the Republicans are out right racist against Black folks in all kinds of policies.

Housing discrimination, banking discrimination, employment discrimination, consumer protection all get worse for Black people under republicans.

And that's not to mention police accountability.

Because they’re purposely doing this in areas with a strong “Black” American voting presence.

It’s highly strategic.
This would be a good point, but immigrants can't vote. They have to apply for citizenship and they can't apply until after a some years. I'm not sure if they would even be in that neighborhood after that time. Now if you basing it on them being there long term and/or them birthing children and their kids being there long term, maybe, BUT, how active is the Asian American community as a voting block? I dont see much of that, maybe the Mexicans but how many of them will be in that neighborhood to make a difference plus who exactly will they vote for as they are not a monolith in voting based on stats.

19 aliens charged with voter fraud in North Carolina following ICE investigation

A federal grand jury in Wilmington charged seven foreign nationals on August 31 on federal felony charges including falsely claiming U.S. citizenship or making false statements on voter registration application, and with misdemeanor charges of unlawfully casting ballots in the 2016 presidential election. Non-citizens are not eligible to register to vote or to vote in federal elections under U.S. law.

I find it sadly ironic how other Hispanics, including people who immigrated here illegally, can recognize how illegals can displace them in housing, employment, voting, etc. and then oppose policies bringing them in.....but Black folks don't realize this.

It's a shame how clueless many of us are until it's too late. Despite all we've been through as a race, we still haven't learned our lesson about being overly accommodating to outsiders :francis:
I see your point, BUT again, immigrants(legal or illegal CAN NOT vote), they have to be in America for some years then apply for citizenship to vote.

tha'ts like 7 people.

So the local government is doing this with the EXPECTATION that a few immigrants will sway votes and get away with voter fraud? I'm not taking sides, but strictly looking at voting, the logic is not strong here.
