A couple of positve developments:

The reconciliation bill that passed the house no longer included the fers contribution increase to 4.4%. It also did not include the high-3 to high-5.

It still gets rid of the fers supplemental though. The bill now goes to the senate. If passed as is, I'll have to retire at 62 instead pf 57 like I had planned.

Why these Americans agree with the DOGE firings: 'Welcome to the real world'

I received nearly 100 emails from readers, and almost all expressed how little sympathy they felt.

"Welcome to the real world," several said.

"Go get a job and work till you're dead like the rest of us," another wrote.

Alot of them is jealous of federal workers and ignorant in what the federal workforce do. They mad cause they have to work themselves to the bone for $21 an hour and can be fired just cause they boss had a bad day. On top of that alot of them probably wanted one but could never get one because they were never good enough to get ones. Then add on the fact that federal jobs are the road to alot of black folks getting out of poverty and you know they can't have that.

Edit: Actually read the article and the idea that having job security and good benefits is something to look down on is crazy.

I reach 25 years in January 2026.

If offered by my agency next year...the thoughts of taking DRP plus VERA has entered my mind.
Talk to an attorney if that applies in your situation and encourage your peers too

I might take it if they up the offer a bit more. I head they might have incentive. If they offer the Social Security supplemental if you are retirement eligible. I am out. I will lose 1.5k of income but I can focus on the wife's cleaning business, we will make that up in less than a year. I am ready to retire, either now or 6 years from now.

I haven't been in here in a while. I hope y'all are doing well

My agency informed us there will be no RIF. Apparently they got rid of or will get rid of 30K employees via retirement, resignations. It's a sigh of relief but I still don't trust those b*stards

What's funny is I told my coworkers and friends months ago, I didn't think the RIF would happen. I came to that conclusion because they kept offering the DRP too many times for them to have the ability to actually fire us. It felt like a desperate move to get people to do their dirty work for them

Also, I knew they kept offering it for the people who would panic and feel like they had to take it. I was never going to take it. They'd have to pry this PIV card out of my hand before I give them the satisfaction

One lady in my agency took the DRP. Literally the following week we got notice it wasn't going to happen. I felt bad for her. I hope she's ok with her decision
