When I win I bring we with me
:whoo:
So I decided to expand my grind and start a youtube gaming vlog series that acts as a "televised representation"/ expansion of my business.

1. Hopefully I can build rapport, trust, and by proxy a core following that also serves as a decent customer base.
2. The goal is also to build a decent & constant income stream to cover basic upkeep cost ...nothing crazy.
:jbhmm:

Tell me what yall think of the format :feedme: .....:salute:
Update: New Audio setup

Just in case you miss the update on page two I have a new Audio setup

Only thing I feel I really need but don't have is a dedicated broadcast Mic :jbhmm:

I'm reminded of both Dr. John Henrik Clarke and Dr. Edwin J Nichols.
Dr. John Henrik Clarke:(paraphrase of his assessment on communism/socialism)
The primary issue for Europeans is class and....(can't recall second part) **class & economics**
The traditional primary issue for Africans is status and....(can't recall second part) **spirituality & culture**

Dr. Edwin J Nichols:(paraphrase of his assessment on Axiology)
The primary orientation for Europeans is man to object
The traditional primary orientation for Africans is man to man

:whoo:

Applied to my situation, It's seems like however objectively good my service sounds on paper people want to jump in on a ball that's already rolling having some semblance of comforting familiarity(or as the cacs call it "consumer confidence") & status with other people. Which puts me in a position to have to build personal man to man relationships(or as the cacs call it "branding myself") as a base to offer my services as opposed to simply pointing the man to object so that the object can sell it self.

Hard to watch breh. The content and delivery was overall very boring. The audio is an issue too. Get yourself a headset or a mic you can bring closer to yourself. Shorten the video and work on putting together more interesting content. Plan your episode ahead of time better too so it all flows and doesn't feel like we're watching someone randomly give his thoughts about random users.

First off thanks again for the swift feed back :salute:

Second, that said I'm already well aware of the audio issues.:whoa:

I'm looking to get the same mic setup as Rob from comics explained:banderas:

This is his mic setup :ohhh:

electrovoice_re20_1.jpg

Now if someone wants to throw me $450 to get a mic :sas1: .....feel free :sas2:
Till then I build with what I have on hand.:yeshrug:
...yes there is a middle ground :whoa:

Lastly, It sounds like you would prefer a more scripted / structured "show" as opposed to what is essentially a "video podcast" format.:francis: I.E....

intro

segment card: What is this entity?
segment content:
general overview - who made it, how many people run it, target audience, etc

segment card: What specifically does this entity offer / consist of?
segment content:
List service sections - previews, reviews, hip hop, anime, etc

segment card: What's your take?
segment content:
commentary on the different aspects / services listed above

outro

I'm going to keep the podcast / radioshow feel for now:jbhmm: ...though I could merge the two types and keep the loose talk to the commentary :ehh: I'm essentially finding my feet for now :yeshrug: hence the feedback request.

Thanks again :salute:

Thanks again :salute:

I respect the effort.
Just keep in mind that just like with music, most people have already made up their mind whether they like or hate you video within the first 15 - 30 seconds. I gave you more of a listen than I would have since you were asking for feed back and you're on the coli, otherwise I would have quickly skipped to another video much quicker.
If you are planning on sticking with that format then get that new mic asap because the actual video content was uninteresting. If your focus is going to be your words then make sure it's on point. You might just go the soundcloud / podcast route if what you're really trying to do is a radio show type thing.

i looked at the blackgamergirl episode and i could only get through a few minutes...

brutal honesty; you are not suited for a loose format.

content was boring yet indecipherable.
you have neither a pleasant voice to listen to for extended periods of time nor the gift of gab to keep the listener's attention flowing along with you.

i have no idea how you can improve this

Right now i'm thinking about...
1. Skipping to the "meat of the topic" quicker as opposed to starting on my splash screen.
2. Not lingering on points so i can get through material quicker.

I recieved feedback from others that they liked the overall concept & content but felt i sat on ideas/topics instead of hitting points and moving along ....they were probably talking about my blerd rant(still hate that word).

The catch is I'm highlighting web content which is essentially visual in nature. :jbhmm: Basically on the same level as a "lets play" video or twitch stream ....actually the concepts are pretty much identical. Topic(visual tour) + commentary for the ride.

Hell, you should have heard it before I edited it down. :lolbron: I actually had to over dub certain parts because I kept saying uhh and not finding my thoughts quick enough. :snoop:.
The more comfortable I become with speaking the smoother things will go. example episode 4 went a whole lot smoother then episode 1 which i've already decided to make a new audio track for.

Hey as long as your being constructive and not rude you'd be doing me a disservice if you weren't brutally honest :ehh: "Just say no to yes men" -:scust:

i have no idea how you can improve this

I have ideas on what I can do and I've also received feedback from other sources that gave me ideas, suggestions, and tips to work with. :takedat: Though the main thing I need to do is get more comfortable with talking into the camera.

Thanks again for the feedback :salute:

i know you want a more free flowing show, but i bet you could remove the learning curve altogether by making a more tightly scripted and pre-produced show

i know you want a more free flowing show, but i bet you could remove the learning curve altogether by making a more tightly scripted and pre-produced show

After combining feedback from various sources it seems to be split down the middle on format & content.
(which is to be expected every body isn't going to like everything. Example: I don't like "lets play" videos unless it's a fighting game i'm studying or an old game i'm reminiscing about)

The consistent issues are:
1. Audio: I already knew about this going into feedback.
2. Lingering: sitting on points.
Plans to address the above::jbhmm:
1. Sitting closer to the mic: Until I get a dedicated mic, most of this can be improved by sitting closer to the mic. Sometimes i shift/obstruct my mouth, etc and throw the mic off. ep4 is a good example.
2. Topic outline: Making a general outline of content I want to hit and issues I want to discuss along with time stamps(how long to talk). Also tightening up on the editing to cut the fat.

Catch is #2 is more of an issue with comfort I.E. simple growing pains.
Example 1: writing out content doesn't help if i forget it mid session.
Example 2: making an outline doesn't help if i forget it mid session.(which is why I plan to write it out... I had one on my phone sitting in front of the monitor for ep1 but it keep going into sleep mode every60 sec)
:martin:

Actually I had mental notes setup for all of the videos. I already knew I wanted to discuss the blerd post, top 100 games post, and her "manifesto" post. :flabbynsick:

Example: my next video is on JTYGER GAMES and my RUFF mental notes are...:patrice:
1. cover recent tweeter feed activity
2. enter site home page - give a general overview
3. hit about page - highlite school and region he reps
4. hit contact page - give info
5. hit game preview - give game design commentary specifically where he is, and what is needed, along with changes i'd make.
6. hit game dev blog - N/A
(I'm currently reading his blog to see which topics I want to discuss and what I want to say)

The above is a good idea of how i lay out my mental notes before recording. How well i remember & deliver them depends on how comfortable i am... even if I write it out. (baby steps)

Note: my comfort level improvement between ep1 and ep4 was massive so this isn't a huge hurtle :whoa:

BTW, Comfort is a vague term, what I mean is....

1. Page takes long to load? Panic!
2. Use the white board for the 1st time? Panic! - (is this going to work? what if my writing is jaked up?, how will this show up in the final cut?, etc)
3. Streamer isn't playing game while i'm covering his channel? Panic!
4.change audio setting during recording Panic! -(what if I take to long?, can people see me open the menu?, that can;t be a good look!, etc)
5. ect ect ect

As you realize you can edit certain things out, certain things don't matter, and some things run smoother then you thought you ease up and don't sweat the small stuff. This in turn helps stick to the script so to speak. Which is basically growing pains / learning curve. i think after around 3 more episodes I'll be fine on delivery.

I.E. everything that can happen, i'll already be familiar with it so I can relax.

New Audio quality check request:

Ok this is the new mic setup. I re-did the audio(not the content overall) and uploaded episode 1 with a new audio track. I've also decided on a new way to do the videos. But for now I need to know the audio is fine before I go further with my new recording style. If the audio is fine I'll then record episode 5 in the new setup/recording style.

Again ...I'm simply checking the audio quality. The videos are currently still unlisted to the public.
Thanks :salute:
