hustler is a magazine created by a company for the users to beat off to, they don't influence or control the direction or content of the magazine, they open it and jack off

LSA, and any other web forum ever made, is created BY the users....they dictate the content and overall vibe of the forums, which is why their activity, and more importantly the DATA of that activity is so lucrative....it's the perfect insight into the interests and trends of the userbase, and why virtually every site you sign up for makes you accept terms and conditions

Your argument is circular because you are still failing to address the issue of options. Just because I use a website for a particular reason doesn't mean I don't have other options in websites for other interests. Of course LSA users will reinforce the website's focus on entertainment and celebrity. Most of its users go there for that purpose. It doesn't mean that their users ONLY use LSA for ALL of their needs. It means they like LSA for entertainment and celebrity.

I go to ONTD for celebrity news. If they asked me what features I want to improve the site, I'm going to focus on what they are already doing well. I'm not going to go to ONTD and ask them to incorporate CNN's forum on International News. Because I don't go to ONTD for that. I go to CNN for that. ONTD will NEVER be able to tell me what their users political interests are because they don't specialize in that and the members that go there ONLY go there for celebrity news.

I feel like if you don't get what I'm saying, then we probably should kill this convo. It's not particularly deep at all, we're not not seeing eye to eye.

I spend half the day discussing politics, I teach courses on black education, feminism and black politics. There's no way you would be able to tell that my job entails writing, reading, and discussing black issues by tracking where I post on The Coli because I don't come here for THAT. I go to academic and news related websites for those type of topics and discussions.

You have to understand, the coli is a platform for many armchair activist who do NOTHING to help the black community outside of talk smack on online message board. Many work shytty jobs that require very little intellectual capacity. To some, this is their only outlet to discuss real issues.

They can't fathom the idea that some people have intellectually stimulating conversations in real life and do not need to be schooled by youtube gurus. Your life is like the opposite of many of their lives; you just want to come and clear you mind after thinking all day. Everyone can't say the same.
