Well you see ladies being down for the cause is best when its a way of life or at least an iinterest to you.

I can go on any site and I will mainly go to topics that deal with our race getting ahead because it's a way of life for me and an interest as well.

Seriously, thanks for looking out. I may do that. But I have to be honest, I actually joined The Coli because of the 'Breaking Bad' thread. It was just such a relief to find a group of black folks talking real shyt about a dope TV show I found engaging and fun. And I think after "doing race" all day in my daily life, that's why I'm drawn to this site- the fun stuff. I do get sucked into these serious convos because it's my passion and primary interest, but on the real, I come on here to get away from that stuff 'cause teaching and discussing this stuff on my job all day can sometimes suck the life out of me.

I spend half the day discussing politics, I teach courses on black education, feminism and black politics. There's no way you would be able to tell that my job entails writing, reading, and discussing black issues by tracking where I post on The Coli because I don't come here for THAT. I go to academic and news related websites for those type of topics and discussions.

I said that that you can't profile a viewers interests based on the forums they go to because YOUR WEBSITE may not be doing a good job of providing all of their needs. Hence the last line about LSA users not using the political forum on the site because.... gasp....maybe LSA sucks at moderating and providing appropriate and compelling discussions about politics.

The only thing a good research analyst could conclude from the posted data is that LSA users do not use nor are they interested in LSA's political forums. They cannot draw more broad conclusions such as that LSA users are not interested in politics or political forums because they have not controlled for multiple extraneous variables which may affect the flow of traffic on THEIR website's political forum. It's outside the purview of what they know.

My point is, when I go to The Coli, I don't go to the political forum. Not that the Coli doesn't provide a good political forum, but that the political forum on the coli isn't the one I'm checking for because when I come here, I have other interests. The Coli staff can only conclude that I'm not interested in discussing politics ON THE COLI. They cannot make any conclusions about my interests in politics outside of that because they don't know where I go to get my political news or discussions.

If you can't get that through your thick skull, then I don't know how to help you.

Now, if you said that they polled users and asked them where they go for their political news and the LSA users overwhelmingly expressed no interests or no other sources for political news, then your conclusions would be correct. See the difference? But to conclude people aren't interested in a topic just because they aren't interested in it on ONE website is just dumb. THAT'S why Google and Microsoft tracks internet activity because they know we have MANY options, and that low activity on ONE site is not a good indicator of where people go to feed their interests.
