Society isn't. Most of them feel that their just tools to be used to further someone else's goals. From in the work place to the streets to their own homes. I don't know if I told this story but on of my sistas quit her job at a school board because her boss (white female) used her insight for improving urban schools and instead of making her in charge of the project she gave it to some white dude that doesn't even have kids. Her efforts and work earned that man a raise and he doesn't know shyt about urban youth.
As for what theyre doing, the letting their voice be heard via internet and meetings. Networking and creating infrastructures in which they themselves have can benefit from. She left that job and started her own tutoring and business course for young black men and women out of college and that need the work experience just to get their resumes notice. She got this idea and some of the fund from a sistas group in Florida I believe.
