I think if there is going to be a large shift where men aren’t college educated and women (for right or wrong) believe that is the standard for a marriage eligible man then yeah that’s going to be an issue. Additionally there is a certain lack of socializing between both groups that will also impair mating. You can already see that to some degree with social media and online dating.

You late.

Above the fray.
So I think the professor contradicts himself in this article (unless its taken out of context, which I don't think it was). He first cites a reason why men aren't attending college is that they have more options to make money than women, but then later in the article he says that a broke and lonely man is the most dangerous thing in the world and we are producing too many of them. So young men are making decent money doing construction work, they wouldn't be broke now, would they?
.
He didn't contradict himself. The writer or editor placed his quotes in that order. The actual interview of the professor is probably more coherent.

I agree to a point. But didn't the mass shootings we've seen already come from "boys" (won't call them men), who come from middle class/upper middle class backgrounds i.e Elliot Rodger?

The main link for most of the mass shooters (without me looking to confirm at this moment)
I believe was being raised by single mothers.

Do with that info what you will.

Men control marriage though, right? If shifting demographics come to be that men won't go to college and women will continue to, wouldn't there be less marriage overall or a woman is marrying a guy who doesn't have a college degree? Perhaps this is already happening?

Nope...Men control proposing, and men are responsible in the marriage -
but it is “controlled” by women at this time.

Could it be argued that college educated people would be less likely to be so influenced by social media? All that consumption of social media tends to give a narrow view of the world, but wouldn't one think that people who go to college and graduate have a set of values that can't be as influenced by social media?

That could be argued...but not well (lol).
The thing about social media is in the name; it is social.
Social construction is not broken by getting a formal education...in fact it can be argued
that education would augment that, because (as we see here) you may enter different castes
because of it.
