I'd imagine if Square had the money to go at it alone they would have done so. We saw Capcom do something similar with Street Fighter 5 (when it came to Xbox at least) and when they stabilized Street Fighter 6 came to everything day 1. I doubt Square took that deal just for shyts and giggles.
