1 Song... producing a record is where the REAL money is... beat making might get you a little dope boy money here & there but placing a full record on an artist will get you $$$$$$$ ... Skylar Grey & Alex Da Kid 'grossed' over $30 Million in Singles alone between 2009-2011...
I feel you. I really want to get into producing. That's one of my goals. I'm really just using beats to get their.Making beats and looking for a rapper to fit my sound. Then I can probably get into producing forreal.

Find you a dope writer or dope artist...

Hell... Mike Will was just another beat maker until he linked up with Future & now they're both well off financially & popularity wise as well...

It does in the business... and unfortunately as an artist with a Major contract he has obligations he has to meet...
Hot 100 isn't just about radio play anymore. A song can be in the top 40 off of downloads and getting no radio play.

I'm telling you how the business works. When Future calls his label and wants a meeting for a release date the first thing they're gonna ask is where did his last Single peak on the charts... that's how it works. And I know the Hot100 also charts downloads & not necessarily just radio but that's what makes it even harder for certain artists and unfortunately Future isn't on "the charts" right now...

True. I didn't even think about finding a good writer.
I feel like my city(Dallas) is wide open for a hot producer to come through and take over the city. The only thing is, it's hard to find good rappers out here, which is weird because its the 4th biggest metro. The sound out here is just different, plus it's not a music city to begin with. But I rather stay here than go somewhere else.

Find you a Kirko Bangz ass dude from out that way... put a banger on him... pay to have it professionally mixed then shop it to a publisher or song plugger... watch how quick it will get placed with a decent mix on it...

That's honestly the key with a lot of A&R's.... To be honest, a lot of them don't have the ears to really hear an unmixed song and know the potential...

They also don't have the time, so when something is all muddy, they are just going to turn it off. It's shows lack of respect for your work and a lazy work ethic.

A half assed produced beat that's mastered, goes a lot further than a talented producers beat with a bad mix... People would be surprised how good some engineers can make the worst shyt sound.

EXACTLY!!!

I always tell people that these music industry people don't have an ear for actual music but what they are good at is telling if something SOUNDS PROFESSIONAL. I've seen it... I've made that mistake myself... the loudness war is real. I could walk into Big John's office right now with "Royals" but if it has a shytty mix with poor compression & muddy mids he's gonna say the song isn't ready meanwhile someone else walks in with a mixed record that is sonically crisp & he'll be on the phone trying to find an artist to place it on. I always tell people the difference between them and a professional is just having their shyt be PROFESSIONAL...

Is it possible to get a good mix with just FL studio.

Bruh I highly doubt there's a set in stone way labels operate nowadays. 2 chainz got his shyt released and his single didn't pick up until after his album had already dropped.
