No it doesn't :gucci:

You can't even visit Kaer Morhen until after you've completed the main quest missions in 3 different areas. You have to progress to point where you found the ugly baby. That's literally halfway through the game.
Breh
Square enix themselves said that the original final fantasy games weren't open world when they explained why they went with a linear direction after 9.

Final fantasy is a jrpg, jrpgs aren't open world games.

Do some research on what an open world means.

Breh said do some research :mjlol:

When people say open world, they generally mean a game where there is the ability to explore a map and complete side tasks outside of the main story. Contrast that with truly linear games where the player is essentially watching one story play out, like Last of Us/Uncharted, Call of Duty/Battlefield campaigns, etc.

I don't know what you guys mean by "open world", but it seems like you think games like GTA 3/VC/SA aren't open world because certain areas are blocked off until you reach a point hours into the story. I don't know why an arbitrary amount of time is what differentiates an open world game to a linear one in your mind. Why should it matter if the game makes you play 1 hour before you can freely explore or 10 hours? If there's a world you can openly explore at some point, then most consider that "open world".

Open world just means you can take a non linear route to your next objective in a 3d environment. You can take a scenic route or a shortcut etc.
Sandbox means you can progress the story at your own pace in whatever order you want. Those are two different things.
Sand box is another term for open world breh.

my bro is 18 and told me about the demo the other day, we played it and i was telling him how the old one is to this one :wow:

he grew up in the ps2/ps3/4/360/one era so he gets to see games from my era reworked , its interesting honestly

who gives a fukk if it's open world or not? :damn:
It really doesn't matter, I actually prefer the linear style of jrpgs because they can tell a more cohesive story.

But people should know what they're talking about.

The only final fantasy game (aside from the mmos) that comes close to open world is 15, and only for the first half of the game.

FF7 gives the illusion of being open but it isn't until you get the ship. When you leave Midgar you are funneled to the next location. You keep meeting barriers that force you in one direction until you get the ship.

But back to this game. When I took control of Cloud and heard that music I just started laughing. I couldnt believe I was actually playing this shyt. Can't wait for the full drop. I wonder how many custom moves are out there for the different weapons.

You dont even get the chance to freely explore in the ship until the last disc, which was the final hours of the game.

Until then, you are strung along a very narrow path.

Since people dont understand the difference.

"Generally, JRPGs are more story driven. For this reason, a lot of JRPGs tend to have a deep linear or non-linear storyline but not much feel for an open world like Western-RPGs such as Fallout 3 or Skyrim. Moreover, like any RPG, they can be text heavy with lots of character dialogue making the game pace feel slow. This is notable in games like Persona 4 or Bravely Default. The characters in JRPGs are usually pre-made characters and customization is not as vast as in Western-RPGs. This lack of customization is noticeable in games like Kingdom hearts or Final Fantasy 7 where the main protagonist is an immutable Sora or Cloud respectively."

They are 2 form of open world...

Back before the Mario 64 type games... Ff7 was open world..

"linear open world"

.because you could explore...
Yes u have to follow the story for a while but open world then meant u have a map to travel...
Then u have the "non linéaire open world" where u could go and try to beat the last boss if u felt brave enough....those I think those old Ultima games...

So ff7 is a linear open world ...

I’m playing this shyt like Kingdom Hearts.
:mjlol:

This game is way harder than I thought, how the fukk do you beat the scorpion? This ATB shyt won’t let me use my potions!!

:damn:
bruh this isnt hard keep attacking with barrett until the ATB fills up then use lightining and you're supposed to attack it from behind with cloud using physical attacks...when it climbs on the wall use barret for long range attacks with his chain gun
