He had to sleep in the crystal to absorb it's power so he could purge the daemons.

The empire found Adyrn in the same island noctis and he help them create their army of daemons to get revenge on the line of Lucis for stealing his throne. Tenebrae was annexed by the Empire, they ran out of time to finish the game that's why you can't explore Tenebrae. If the development was in the main game, you wouldn't need side stories, they did it to sell DLCs.

Gladio got manhandled by Luna's brother in a confrontation and realized he needed to get stronger in order to properly be king's shield so he went off to take the trail, that's clearly explained in game without DLC, that he was questioning his ability to protect noctis, the DLC shows the trail he did in order to get Gilgamesh's power.

Aryden was well developed, the side story just shows the events that were explained in the main game already, plus it is the side story to sell DLC

Final Fantasy XV story is straight forward, its call back to the orginal NES games which were simple, where the warrior of light went on quest for the crystal.

Final Fantasy VII has more more plot holes, you have to do certain things to trigger cutscenes that explain the story and you can mess them completely and still beat the game not knowing zack's back story, vincient or who Sephiroth's father is etc

Each character had development in the main game

Gladio not respecting Noctis, they arguments during the titan fight
and on the train after ignis got blinded, then when Noctis finally has to get put the ring, he earns Gladio's respect.

Prompto felt like he was a weak link in the party and not really apart of the team, he was created by the scientist in empire and was suppose to be a magitek shoulder, and had to come to terms with that.

Ignis went blind, because had to put on the ring to save Noctis' life, which added to the beef Gladio had with Noctis, because Noctis still wouldn't put the ring on because he was afraid, yet Ignis did it without hesitation and went blind because of it.

Those weren't real questions. I know damn well WHY. Doesn't change the fact that you had to buy $40 worth of DLC and watch an anime and a movie for this to be a coherent story.

None of those were justifications to NOT be in the main game. Episode Ignis in PARTICULAR. So Noctis wakes up and Ignis is blind and I gotta pay $20 to find out? fukk you.
My main tank of the crew just leaves, doesn't say where he went, what he did or what was happening? And I gotta pay $10 to find out? fukk you.

You can talk all the shyt about VII you want but all that shyt was not only in the Main Game...some of it was OPTIONAL! You could finish the game with Cloud, Tifa, Barret and still get a front to back coherent story. And I don't even like VII that much.

THATS. NOT. GOOD. STORYTELLING.

XV. IS. NOT. A. GOOD. GAME.

To many folks blinded by the fact it was pretty and don't even think about the fact the story was trash, they made magic irrelevant, there's little to no effort to the combat and the side stories are 100000 times better than what they gave you for the original $60.

XV is up there with 13 for the worst of the lot. Even 12 is better.

There is nothing coherent about Final Fantasy VII storyline, its convoluted and has too many plot holes, which is why they are changing in the story in the remake to stream line it

Without the DLC you realize Ignis was injured in battle that's how he went blind, doesn't change the story

Gladio disappearing doesn't effect the story, you don't need the DLC to get a coherent story, its straight forward, which is one of the complains about the game the story was simple. Nothing was hard to understand, when people still debate shyt about Final Fantasy VII story till this day.

Bro, one of the golden rules of storytelling and filmmaking is you don't develop characters off screen. Does every scene in a film include the main character? No. So you cant have a guys just end up blind because you feel like it. That's shytty, lazy writing. And he WASN'T injured in battle. He did it to himself which was MUCH more compelling that he just got hurt fighting.

See even YOU can't keep the story straight and that's once scene. Gladio didn't say shyt about doing a trial to be worthy until he did it. That's shytty, lazy writing. When's the last time in a film a character just left and came back FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED and no one said ANYTHING about it or you didn't see it on screen? Oh that's right...you don't.

That's the plot. Every plot is simple that's why its called a plot. Learn the difference between story and plot.

What makes Final Fantasy VII convoluted is not the plot, but the story. all the crap about the ancients, lifestream, clones, cloud's memories etc

It's not even clear in the game if Cloud is actually a person or one of the sephiroth clonesm there's no logical reason why Cloud would be able to defeat Sephiroth in a confrontation in the mako factory when he not even a real soldier and wasn't even mako infused until he got taken to the lab and experimented on
It's not clearly stated exactly what Jenova is, we know more about Ardyn and the gods than Jenova in VII

That is not a golden rule.

Star Wars is a prime example.

In the first Star Wars, in one scene, Obi-Wan explains the origins of Darth Vader, the Jedi, the clone wars, all in simple dialogue where is easily understood by the reader.

You don't need to see ever single detail on a screen to a tell a story that's called doing too much.

In Empire Strikes Back it was understood Yoda was a powerful warrior without ever seeing him fight anyone

WHen George Lucas tried to do it how you want done, he made the prequels, and all suck, and took away all the mystique of these events told in the original.

Also the DLC didn't develop the characters they just let you play through events Noctis wasn't apart of when the characters went their separate ways.

The Main game does all the development, Gladio comes to believe in Noctis when he first didn't, Prompto becomes a competent asset to the group, only person who really didn't get developed is Ignis who stays the same throughout the entire game. Him being blinded didn't change who was as a character.

You don't know what character development is

when Noctis has no choice but put the ring on, in the last chapter, that was huge development in his character and the first time he accepted his destiny as sacrificial christ like figure who had to give up his life for the world, which the entire game he was afraid of death and the fact he knew he had to die.

The camp scene where he finally breaks down, and admits his fear, its better than any character driven scene in the final fantasy series

people just like to complain, none of the stories in this game have been mind blowing

I question your ability to comprehend a story

They fled their kingdom and now he's getting power to come back and recapture the throne
Man stop it. Don’t play revisionist history for the sake of winning a pissing match. That games story was absolute trash and it completely hurt what could have been an excellent game.
