i got this on the switch i never beat or really played FFVII so i dont have the same feeling yall do...from the little ive played i really dont see the hype...ill prob get the remake tho

@CyberGlion covered it already for the most part. FF7 is a landmark with a lot of firsts under it's belt. The nostalgia is off the charts with this one, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The work that the soundtrack's composer alone was able to pull off with the limitations he was working under is worthy of multiple awards by itself.

I'll judge when I actually play the game. Revamp can mean a lot of things - from the videos, it doesn't seem anywhere near as sloppy as FF15.
