wacky, how bout this. ill shut the fukk up and change my vote if you explain to me how a song "features Wu-Tang". obviously wu tang had to have done collabs with each other. is wu gambinos raekwon featuring wu tang? what about ice cream? ice water?glaciers?rainy days?

explain to me how a song features the wu tang clan since those aren't wu tang songs

Question and this isn't to be an ass: but how are we determining classics? Opinions on message boards, critic ratings or what?

put it this way. how often do non-wutang fans champion "forever" as a classic album?

its just a personal classic amongst wutang fans.

why would you change your vote? are you low-key admitting that tribe is a better group?

of course theyre gonna do collabs among the group, since theyre at each other's disposal.

by your logic, snoop is the runaway goat rapper, because the chronic was halfway his album. instead, hes seen as a one album wonder.

Uptown, NYC
36 Chambers and Wu-Tang Forever rival those 2 in quality.

Nah, Forever was never all that great to me, at all. I loved "Heaterz", and that was one of the only joints I really latched onto from that album. I'm more into the solo joints.

I copped Enter the first night it dropped, right along with MM. I had my tracks on there, but I lost my mind when I heard MM, I don't think I messed with anything as much as that in '93. Those two Quest albums are just perfect, to me. I still listen to them all day. I haven't listened to Enter in years.

I generally base my "classic" or non classic status on publications I've read because there aren't A LOT of hip hop heads where I'm from but there are a few and among the few around me, we all think forever is a classic. and not all of them are big wu tang fans but they respect and acknowledge the record as a classic. The thing about classics is not everyone will agree because it's still subjective. So really it's all a matter of opinion and I feel and others feel it's a classic so that's where I stand. :yeshrug:

publications are usually made up of a bunch of weirdo niccas, twerpy white guys, and corny asians(no offense to miss info. i'd bake her cakes).......and hell, they never crowned "forever" as a classic either.

if wutang forever was such a classic, then it wouldnt have been the end of their chapter. they were at the height of their popularity and had the media in their back pocket. it had super-promotion and the whole nine. multi-plat and everything. if the music was really classic, they wouldnt have lost any steam.

the proof is in the pudding right there, even if you never heard the album.

I made a Wu mix of 36 songs that I feel tells a perfect story of Wu and who they are and what they represent and a lot of the songs on it are songs off of solo albums: Shaowboxin, Knuckleheadz, Wu Gambinos, House of Flying Daggers, Daytona 500, etc
:gladbron::whoo::feedme:

both are overrated and wack as fukk

but i fukk with a couple songs off midnight marauders so i guess ATCQ gets my vote

I disagree on forever being the reason they "lost steam" breh. And publications are all we had then to really determine the culture and while there wasn't a 5 mic award for it there is a 4.5 and a lot of "A" awards or A- awards out there which qualifies in my book. They lost steam due to the group losing focus after 97 and of course the concert incident in 97 which resulted in them getting blackballed from what was at the time the most powerful radio station in hip hop. All of that comes into play. It ain't the music, it's the politics. They were on tour with Rage Against the Machine, the biggest band in music at the time, and not everyone showed up. You got different rotations every night, group infighting and then they ditch that world tour for summer jam 97 and that blows up in their face. The music had nothing to do with it breh...and The W is a good album, platinum selling with maybe only two weak spots after it. Wu's problem has never been music, it's been consolidating the egos and getting everyone on the same page that has been their downfall and always will be. Once RZA's four year plan was up and he became less of a dictator and allowed cats to go their own way, well you've seen the results

Bonz Malone though?
And being a real truly dedicated fan of any type of music is pretty much nerdy by definition.

Word. The fact that we're on a message board discussing who's better: Wu or Tribe means we are nerdy lol. And I don't give a damn the color of the person writing the review, if they recognize dope music they recognize dope music. Three of the biggest reasons we have Nas right now: Serch (white), info (asian/female) and Faith Newman (white/female)

if someone said Tribe's prime 3 albums were better than the Clan's, id have no problem with it. The W was dark, experimental and moody. it wasn't just the beats, they were playing with new flows, and doing it over some difficult beats

both slipped on their 4th, id take 8 Diagrams over the Love Movement idgaf. Love Movement was a disaster, if that went down during the msg board era it would have been a spectacle. Consequence was basically made a member, the beats sucked, I hated it

musically its close, skillwise I don't think it is. Deck is usually middle of the pack for most fans and hes twice the rapper Phife ever was. they cant hang skills wise

a publication could never determine anything within the culture. these magazine writers are basically just the type of dudes that get clowned & dismissed on here. hell, alot of them prolly post here. sure, when youre young & green, you fall for the smoke-n-mirrors, but after a while, you wise up and begin to realize how suspect the ratings are. especially when these mags pulled the curtain up and started posting their staff pics.

if forever isnt the reason why they lost steam, than what is? theres no possible excuse that they could make. im not saying that it was a bad album or anything, but its clearly not a classic. and nobody liked the 2nd disc breh.

the summer jam thing??:laff: nobody outside of new york & north jersey knows or cares about hot 97 or their summer jam breh. youre reaching for straws. and only wutang fanatics paid attention to what they did or didnt do at the rage against the machine tour.

i didnt say every writer was a herb. im just speaking in general. the majority. and i dont even mean to call them out their name. the point is, theyre just not representatives of anything.

besides, that bonz malone cat seems like one of those sausagefest niccaz anyway. aint nobody holding that bul in no high-regard.
