not saying to call it a day, but...its a symbolic victory

Like i said it's a win and a step in teh right direction, So was getting a half black president elected, and even then we saw some people using that as a "well see now you can't complain everythings all better" moment. Let's all just remember the war is far from over is all i'm saying. This definitely is a battle won though....just a battle though none the less.

I try not to make big deals about things that should have been all along. Same way i don't get excited when I do some shyt i'm supposed to do anyways. This flag should have died a LONNNNGGG time ago.

It was an alternate flag and was never brought into battle. The stars and bars was the flag of the confederate army. In the 50s it was appropriated as a racist symbol. Sorry if I said it wrong, but it wasnt used back then as their flag, the design was around but it wasn't their flag. In the 50s people made a concerted effort to change history and make the flag we know today the confederate flag which it wasn't was my point.

The American flag also had alternates, doesn't mean they were the American flag is my point. Jefferson Davis would tell you the modern confederate flag wasn't the real flag, the stars and bars was. for bringing facts, shyts rare on the coli to have an educated convo bro.

It's all good. Like I said i'd never really given it much thought. Just wanted to clarify the design itself has existed since the civil war and at least according to wiki was used as a battle flag. But yeah in terms of it being the SOUTHERN FLAG, it definitely was not.

....I don't like this...i mean I like the removal of the flag and all but watch as the GOP starts to shift its message to "see we're NOT really racist after all"...I mean suuureeee we supported and fought like hell ever since we lost the war via things like the southern strategy, jim crow, overt and covert systematic racism to keep minorities in their place, but by goodness ever since voters started viewing us like racists we decided to step away from that fight...

This shyt is just disingenuous to no end. It's step in the right direction for sure but let's not forget that 2 months ago these same people were defending that damn flag with all their hearts.

They are so knee deep in their hypocrisies they cant even make headway on their policy promises.

Only way out for them is away from all the bullshyt.

They have dug their heels in real deep though cause they are running real scared. They know the end is near if they stay on their current course but they are too scared to change lanes.

That's what worries me though. It's not like these people are actually changing, nor is their intent or actual racist feelings, it's a political maneuver and really nothing more...a good political maneuver too.

Just tread with caution is all i'm saying, let's remember who these people really are and what they REALLY believe. Just because they wont openly fly the flag doesn't mean they don't support it's message.

First they could openly say ******, then they couldn't they used to have to use obtuse wording, now they can't openly fly the flag.

O no doubt, anything less than a full repudiation and acknowledgment of their racist past is cause for mistrust. These "im sorry if you were offended" ass apologies under the weight of insurountable pressure doesnt really count. But the fact that there is even public dialogue about this is progress. GOP can run with it or get run the fukk over.... but the old status quo wont remain viable for long.
