the last time large amounts of people got together to protest and figure out solutions to the current economic conditions that came about as a result of the decisions of a senile ex-actor and a bunch of wannabe gordan gekkos in the '80s, it got shut down pretty quickly by the same people complaining about how nothing's being done to clean up this mess, hopefully the same won't happen when the topic is police brutality and institutionalized racism!

I don't know anybody that read that book but in the case of people playing obtuse they play stupid or maybe they aren't playing. That's not what I said but keep playing stupid it won't help you IRL.I got a question for you,has anybody who was successful ever said "I read the good ol pick yourself up by the bootstraps quote and it changed my life"....Don't think ive ever heard that,reason being is the pick up yourself by the bootstrap speech only reaches people who already have that unbreakable drive,confidence and motor in them to not quit no matter the setbacks..it reaches people who didn't need the speech....People who have that drive cuz either its just in them by birth,or was instilled in them early on,or they just found the thing they love to do and were good at that gave em that drive.
But what do you teach the people who already lack confidence, never had that drive or hardwork instilled in them,people who are easily breakable when shyt don't go exactly how they planned it? Your advice is to give them the same damn advice? Rather than give them advice catered toward the REALITY of who they actually are to help them be productive people who lead productive and happy lives and not get them in over they head? theres a reason doctors take all factors into account(age,height,weight,medical history,symptons) before giving a diagonosis and a prescription....if the doctor says "just take this" cuz he feels your head is hot he's a azzhole
I think what we can agree on is,folks need to spend more time with family who they KNOW giving out advice and mentoring....And know there background and know yourself if you are the right person to mentor that person....Theres a reason Jordan shouldn't have been teaching Kwame Brown..or a natural atheltic freak like AIlen Iverson should be teaching somebody who needs alot of practice...it takes humility to understand you don't have the answers for EVERYBODY....but both sides of the argument are too arrogant to see it.
There is no advice that works for everybody but I and most people don't spend much time on people with a shyt load if excuses. Let them end up where they end up. I can help some but if there's always an excuse like you seem to,have its no help you're honestly done. You act like telling people to goto school, start a business, don't have children you can't afford etc is non generic advice. That's basic shyt right there your parents should have given you IMO.

Exactly if the rebuttal to everything is look how hard they have it they can't focus on doing better etc what is really the point of having these discussions? Whites ain't about to give us no big money to turn stuff around and it seems like no matter how we go about suggesting change something is wrong with that way so what are really talking about? I also definitely agree cats going to be 2/3 generations down the line still saying the same shyt and don't think shyt wrong with it. My parents and grandparents would slap the shyt out of me for suggesting that I don't have better opportunities than them.

If you run into highly intelligent folks with better upbringings still trying to live in the mud. then you go crazy and yell and scream at them. thats frustrating. but requesting that average joes with horrible upbringings become greats should not be frustrating because look at who you're speaking to. thats your fault for asking them to do something thats virtually impossible. If you are going to speak on hood nuccas. Well go to the hood and talk to hood nuccas. and when you speak to them and you THINK you're giving good advise. dont tell them the problem. They already know the problem. give them solutions. saying "Go to school" means nothing to someone that has a crack head for a mother. unless he or she has other folks around them that are on the up and up.
You have to get specific. if you want people to go that school route..fine. Grab a list of all the programs near by that they can hook up with and get free or very cheap assistance with minimal parent assistance. This is a reality. the parents aint right in the mind. so how are they going to really HELP their kids? they aint. saying "the parents need to" is stupid. we know that but that doesnt change a thing. give the kids something they can do on their own to help get things moving. Then you talk to the parents directly and help them help themselves. Ok, so listen ladies yall have to stop giving away your soul to any ole dude that crosses your path. sorry, you dont "NEED HELP" because you have a few kids. Not any help will do. just any dude thats half working will make it worse on you and your kids. its actually more dangerous for a women and her kids to be around men in general(statistically proven... men in the home harm women and children more so then anyone outside of the home.) So they dont NEED a man. thats bs. get these ladies to first understand that. Then get them to understand their worth. then get them to understand now that they have these kids they should do these right things. explain specifically how should they go about helping their kid with school.
prime example. hood parent wasnt good at math. so she doesnt help her hood son out cause she cant. so he's on his own to fail math more or less.
how do you solve that problem.
#1 get her to stop chasin after dudes.
#2. show her thats she's worth more then just some dudes piece of tail and a meal/ with a place to stay and a car to drive
#3. tell her, look you stopped messing with math after fractions because you hated fractions because it was too difficult. listen homegirl..the reason you hated fractions and thought i was difficult is because your teacher wasnt good enough at teaching you the subject, or your parents didnt drill it home when you left the school. or maybe you were not paying any attention. doesnt matter now. we can fix that today. If i told you, i could help make you smarter would you be willing to do it? if i told you in one month i could make you smart enough to help your son in math. would you do it? what if i told you it would only take 30 mins per day at the most to get this to work. would you do it?

^^^^Thats how you HELP people at the bottom. you give them SPECIFIC GUIDELINES. not some GENERAL speech about what they NEED to do. they know that already. HOW TO is what they need to know. and the HOw to's better be realistic for each person.

Do you know what a foundation is for white people? Land, Businesses, Real Estate, Wealth...all handed down from generation to generation to generation. now if the next GEN Eff's up those things that were given to them. THEN you can say "we gave you X and yall floundered it away"
there was nothing abstract about that at all. i got specific, which is why that speech is longer then the usual "boot straps" speech. thats what happens when you get specific. see. unlike you and cos. i dont talk and dont show specifics. if i speak on showing specifics i will show you an example of said specifics in a specific way. Cos gets props for pushing education and giving to education. he gets props for pushing the huxtables. But he gets no props for yelling at hood people about problems with no real solutions while at a convention of Elites. makes no sense.
any black person out there that believes the bootstrap nonsense or the "personal responsibility" talk. Do you realize the reason more white folks are in college then black folks is because they didnt start off in this country as slaves that were not allowed to read. DO you realize how long it would take for a generation of people to catchup to those that were already reading vs those that were not allowed to and didnt even originally speak the same language?
Do you realize the reason these white folks do better on these standardized test. is because their schools are better from pre k thru 12th grade. A LOT better. like..night and day better.
Do you realize the reason its 2nd nature for a lot of white kids to go to college and become professionals is because their parents have gone to college and become professionals?

They are doing this by constantly sending them to the officer over petty stuff. you rack up enough office visits they can stamp you with the ADHD tag or something of the likes. next thing you know, you're in special ed like you ride the little yellow bus or something. i know this for a fact. my mother use to work in special ed. she did so for over 40 years. my wife works in the education system in their main office but use to substitute teach. i know a ton of educators.
these are things white people dont have to deal with. so no wonder they are looking like shiny pennies.
so any time you say pull yourself up, or take personal responsibility. you are not paying attention to ALL of the ills that plague black people. there are more then you want to know about. Man ain't nobody know everybody so why the fukk would people be out here giving customizable blueprints to everybody like they know them. That's the reason for the general shyt you and your wife need to stop with the excuse making. If its not this its that ass people. Can't use bootstraps speech because people are too stressed, unrealistic, or something else even though others from the same background before have done it. My bad some people can't use that speech cause they have unique problems like taking care of other family like nobody outside of them have that. Or maybe they need exact instructions of what to do step by step but the contradiction to that is people sure know how to find out how to do things they want to but it comes to serious stuff now everybody a damn infant. You are an enabler to the highest degree and I think its bad for the growth of our community cause if you let people give up and hit you with excuses first chance they get they will never push themselves from what I normally see.
Also No shyt everybody can't make it big but everybody can be productive and that's not asking for much and truth be told if you want to do it big you have a great chance. Most people are lazy and or making excuses why they can't make it big financially so its not as much competition as people think if that's a persons goal.
