Fired for being five minutes late

ok you are not following along, this is the last reply..... I was a full time employee, this wasnt a temp agency, when I interviewed for the job I told them when asked about my availability that I could work a 8-5 m-f, but I have other obligations at night, they said ok and hired me, but never told me the scheduled hours. Upon arrival on my first day he asked me which times work best I told him 8-4:30 he said they work 9 hr shifts so it would have to be 7:30 - 4:30 (with an hour lunch that I always take at my desk). We agreed we would see how that works. A few months had passed and I had been really late with excuesed abscence maybe 3 or 4 times. and between 5-10 minutes on average, he then warned me and I explained to him, that it takes me over an hor to get to work and two to get home, can you give me a window of like 15 minutes to get in because i live so far away, and no one else is in the office until 8:30. he said he would get back to me. Today he pops up (because he works in another state) like hey im here for some meetings, then comes back like we have to let you go, you were a few minutes late last week, your window...


I may have been wrong but I know that I made more than every effort I could to get there early, I couldnt so he said fukk me and now im saying fukk him and anyone that runs their business like the military or some bs...


S/O to all the people that offered unbiased critisicm and to hell with these fake ass company men who do no wrong... I am over this that job and this thread....

See you should have put your foot down in the begining and said "I told you that's not going to work, I told you already". You set yourself by taking something you obvious;y weren't going to be able to handle.

Here in MD, where I am assuming the OP lives, you have a hearing when your employer disputes your unemployment claim. With that email where he was "counseled" about being tardy previously there's no way he's winning an appeal....

So being counseled one time would disqualify him? Did that email say "the next time you do this you're fired"? I find that extremely hard to believe.

now we are on the same page.. to my defense, I didnt know that I was going to be required to do anything other than my 8 hours. and they have access to all the emails but i dont. I knew after the first "warning" that my days were numbered, I just knew I wasnt going to find anything before the holidays and legitimatly thought by me being in the building and office by my start time I would be fine, but no these a$$holes were like no you werent logged on exactly at 730 and we gonna fire you right before the holidays because we are a$$holes... again they have every right, but it doesnt mean they arent a$$holes

That sucks. I just walked into work more than an hour late and my boss was outside my office waiting to talk to me. He started off by apologizing for stalking me.

And on being late. I fukking hate being late to work. I hate when shyt happens and I have to rush to work. Most annoying thing to me. I'm always 15 mins early just so I can breath easy and not feel fukking rushed trying to punch in and shyt and people looking at me sideways and shyt.

I don't care if I get there 30 mins early. fukk it that's why I have my Ipad and phone. I can chill and get on that but knowing I'm not late just makes my day get much more smoothly

This X1000. I have to be in by 9, but I'm usually there by 8:30. I leave the house earlier than I should just in case something messes up my commute so that I have some grace time.

You know how much you getting in unemployment?

I usually love when I get fired. I usually have a couple of them thangz saved up, so between unemployment & savings, I'm enjoying a 6 month vacation at least
