:francis:. No passion for this. The salary out of that program, I have already reached. I am spending 10-15 hours studying that I could be spent getting a part time contractor job making even more money.:francis:. I am bailing out.

Whats the program? You gotta do ROI before deciding to do grad school otherwise you are just wasting money. And you have to have some level of passion for the school work or the end result.

Computer Science program. I don't have a passion for coding at all. Would prefer to self learn doing self pace learning. Nothing a teacher can teach me that I can't learn on my own.

????? Are you making 400k total comp right now?

Lol nooooooo..but I make over 6. If I can get a contractor job using the time I am spending studying. I could add 20k to 30K while learning pyhton which is really the only language I need to know in my field.

Half the shyt the professor is teaching I am finding youtubers who teach it better. Currently learning java.

Buddy you need to stick it out. If you can pull it off you can make waaay more than your making now. All you need to do is leetcode heavily your last 6 months of gradschool, compensation packages can be obscene for even fresh out compsci grad students. Download the "blind" app and it will change your mind quickly, its also a good app to get referrals for FAANG companies. Once you are in you will be playing the RSU vesting game till you hit $1 mil, stock compensation is where the real money is made and "not contracting on the side".

if you are attending university of phoenix, please quit:francis:

yo go on coursera.com for that python, if all you want to do is learn specific languages thats a good spot. I'm about to finish the last course it in a week or so. its $50/month until you complete the required courses for the Python Specialization.
Each course has about 6 weeks of classes and there are 5 courses. You can finish at your own pace tho.
I already have coding background so its pretty much a breeze tbh.
Python is used heavily out there.
I'm the same as you I rather not do more college. I like doing shyt at my own pace on my own time.

It's a top school. Those compensation packages are ridiculous due to people moving to the west coast to work from tech companies. Dudes are going to the east coast making 150K and still can't live. I am being realistic. I should finish this program in 3-4 years. I will be 33. Technology changes every day. By the time I graduate something else will be hot. I could get good at Python and Java on my own fairly quickly. Quicker than what this program can teach me.

Yeah, I can learn this stuff off Udemy without the stress of grades and timeline, exams cutting into my life time. Everything is out there for you to learn.

why did you sign up?????
lol, the cyber gigs I wanted wanted me to learn Python but I ended up getting one with Python being a requirement. Now I can learn both Java and Python on my own and lie on my resume and still do just as well in a year or two.

It's a necessary evil but yeah, I made my decision. Sending in my resignation tomorrow and will just do Java and Python self learning.
that kinda decision ain't easy man, but knowing when to make a change is huge...

its hard to explain to others how certain opportunities aren't worth the mental sacrifice attached

If it is a top school you could easily be throwing away a couple of mil life time if you quit. The days of Bootcamp folks or self trained folks getting on the gravy train is over. As an underrepresent minority(I'm assuming you are) you can easily get on that train. You can get those packages in Seattle or Austin, and grinding in the bay for a decade isn't bad if you are wise. Otherwise you will get stuck making 150K the rest of your career. First world problems I guess.
