No, his true shooting percentage isn't very close to MJs. Kobes career TS % is 55 compared to Jordans 56.9. That's a signifcant difference. Infact, Jordan has six seasons with a true shooting percentage better than Kobes best one.

Anyway, the original article is just stating the obvious. Kobe was never the best player in the league so I find it really hard to find any argument with him over someone who has what, atleast 7-8 seasons as hands down the best player in the league.
