That whole scene was crazy. Like others said, I also think it's crazy that Meek was the one who made it out. Reed Dollaz, Joey Jihad, Slaughter Rico, some others I don't remember anymore, had a lot of at least internet buzz. But they were more YouTube freestyle rappers, they had trouble putting together actual recorded music that caught on with people.

slaughter rico made great music, if you listened to his stuff outside of just his freestyles.

anyway, its time to dead this stigma.

just because your music isnt being pushed by the industry, it doesnt mean that your music didnt catch on with the people. it just means that you dont have the right money, people, labels, etc behind you, if any of the aforementioned at all.

while there are some guys who didnt have the tracks, there are plenty who did. some even had chit on smash with their music. just because they werent on radio or TV, means nothing. meanwhile, yall let these plans thru the door cuz they had big money & big politics behind them.

Question tho. Even locally did any of them have close to the hits meek had?

What if they don't make that type of music? Meek didn't have a hit until In My Bag...that caught with the chicks first. Hottest in the City never really caught on. And Cosmic Kev was not gonna play their music.

Reed and Reign (even though he's older) were rapper's rappers. They made pure hip-hop. Chic made pain music, Vodka made street poetry. People know their ish...but it won't get radio play. Plus I think what hurt them individually was they were always doing songs with each other. They built their chemistry and sharpened each other, made great music, but they were trying to come in as a unit when the industry moved away from it.

Damn that’s wild. But it’s really crazy how all them was doing songs together and meek was the one on the outside being dissed and the one who ended up making it

was the beef real enough where if they saw each other they was gonna get it poppin?

that was a crazy scene. it's frustrating tho cause their music is hard as hell to find now adays other than stuff that's on youtube. some stuff is on datpiff still but some aren't or are broken links like Best of Black Deniro, Cyssero - The Unstoppable. Looking for those but also Best of Chic Raw & Vodka, any of Young Bob's Headshot series etc

Here's Young Bob's Best of Chic Raw which is rare, so i ain't just begging or leeching

salutes to 2rawforthestreets for still putting in work and putting a lot of classic footage on youtube too

You tried asking around in this thread, breh?

If you tell them the names of the mixtapes they'll more than likely be able to find it.
