James brown is probably the most important black musician of all time. It may be controversial to say. Think of the genres and figures that came before. As far as popular music. James Brown was a huge factor. Not taking anything from little Richard or others either. James brown looked up to past black pioneers
I’d probably put Jimi, Stevie or Chuck Berry ahead of JB, but he’s definitely in the discussion.

but to op’s question, JB was prominent enough to be the first black man in America to own a private jet way back in the 60s

Chuck Berry is the only one that can arguably be discussed with JB out of your line up.

They are all icons. No doubt about that.

Chuck Berry is the father of rock and roll. James Brown is the grandfather of soul and father of funk.

Jimi was amazing. Cats wanted to be him or like him but he didn't define or redefine a genre. Stevie of course amazing and in all aspects, writing, composing, playing, singing. All the awards and accolades but once again he didn't define or redefine the genre. He was just really damn good, he had his own sound and nobody could touch him.

Damn breh i don't think we have heads that flabby on this site. lol. I'm 38 James Brown is prolly for folks like 60 and up. But the shyt that i've heard was dope.
