now I wasnt alive at the time but in hindsight, after cube left NWA was still a big act before breaking up and ren basically carried the whole N4L album so he had to be more than just some afterthought at the time
Real talk folks, even in 1988 there was Kane, Rakim and The DOC who's the best emcee talk. If That Accident didn't happen The DOC would of been top 5 GOAT, and truth be told he's in my Top 10 GOAT
DOC has to be the most overrated '80s rapper on this board, by far.

DOC has to be the most overrated '80s rapper on this board, by far.

There is always group where 1 rapper or a few are famous and the rest are really not
if you would say MC Ren the average person wont know who your talking about
but you say Dr. Dre or Ice Cube they most likely will
Made a classic album and only cursed once or twiceDOC has to be the most overrated '80s rapper on this board, by far.

Negro you on that shyt! Funky Enough blew nikkas mind's, The D.O.C. had so many different flow's, breath control damn near flawless, he was very lyrical with knowledge of self, and had mastery of wordsif he wasn't down with NWA, yall wouldn't care.
most of his style was borderline dated by the time he came out too. still a classic album tho, but all this "coulda been goat" talk is crazy.

You can't really compare his popularity to a modern day rapper, no current group is as big as NWA was.
I guess this is the part where some clown says something like "b bu but Migos sold more records!".....Migos also did a song with Katy Perry. NWA went plat with no hit single, no top 40 hit, no radio play, and no video play outside of hip-hop only shows.
As far as popularity:
1. Eazy
2. Cube/Ren/Dre
3. Yella
Which seems like a cop out but Eazy was the star and then it was everyone else after him. Yella was the least popular.
Fred.
Tony Yayo in 2003 level Free Yayo?
Or 2005 So Seductive Tony Yayo?
Yayo sold more than Styles "Double" Plastic and Jadapiss combined
